Richards??? on 19:16 - Jan 25 by plasmahoop | Its a difficult one with Richards, maybe he does have a few issues. But there are so many people that are struggling in the country and whilst thats nothing to do with him, i can't help thinking he's messed up a bit here. Without meaning to complain im not quite where i was hoping to be in life at this stage, divorced, renting a flat, financially not great. He needs someone to slam him against the wall and say mate youve got a chance to set yourself up for life here, you may have cash on the hip now, but this is the best earning opportunity you're probably going to get so dont toss it off |
I would counter that possibly one of the problems with Richards is that he may well be pretty well set up financially. He's 24, and has earned money from Man City, Brighton and QPR since turning professional. No respect for him at all.

I would guess he will be comfortable financially but imagine living another 50-60 years with that approach to life. What is he going to do with all that time on his hands because if you can’t apply yourself to a sport you should enjoy, you are going to find it pretty tough going in the real world - even if you don’t need a job for money, you probably need something meaningful to occupy the time. We should probably do the same and let him get on with whatever he has going on. I doubt we’ll see him back at the club and I doubt he will play much again, for anyone else.

He will spend all that money. We've seen so many flash in the pan millionaires lose it all because of idiocy. He doesn't come across as someone switched on or having the right people around him. No work ethic.

Without a doubt. Bloke really gets to me. The pictures of him as a kid, excited to be in the stands watching us. He's one of us, living the dream, and he's carelessly tossed it away, while at the same time tieing down wages which could be enabling another, more honest young man, to be living his dream.
Richards??? on 07:37 - Feb 17 with 3060 views | PlanetHonneywood | Upon reflection we'd never have signed him; Cambridge loaned him; and who the hell will he go to next? Bloke's a wastrel of the highest order. However, for his sake, you hope he has some people who actually care about him and who can get hold of him and point him in the right direction. No guarantees he'll listen, but all I can see is someone posting in a few years that he's in 'trouble'.

Richards??? on 09:32 - Feb 17 with 2726 views | Dorse | He's played 45 mins this season, across 5 sub appearances. No starts. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/taylor-richards/leistungsdaten/spieler/484551 I would argue that this loan could not be described as a success. Compare that to Cooper (27 starts, 22 conceded, 14 clean sheets!) or Kelman, both getting rave reviews. Even Larkeche, who's had an injury, has 18 starts (15 in the league) and 3 league goals! These fellas are taking every chance they get to improve. Richards? Not so much. Cambridge desperate to get shot tells you everything you need to know.

He and the undoubted wasted talent that was Leon J., both crossed my mind. I suppose you could add Ravel to the list. I don't doubt TR 'had' talent, clubs like City and Brighton generally don't have a bad eye for such things, it's just a shame it's ended up with him as opposed to a kid who is working their butt off to try making it. Oh well, this saga still has some miles and pounds to go!

He's not here being a nuisance and somebody else has to deal with him for the season. Absolutely a success for us.

Richards??? on 19:05 - Feb 19 with 1348 views | NorthantsHoop | The Taylor Richards debacle, never saw anything of any quality to be honest to suggest a player that was of great potential, for the very few times he had a QPR shirt on. A very sad saga all round, which has cost our club a lot of money that could have no doubt been used on better options, especially with the option to buy clause at the end of the loan period and subsequent contract, which has had the most negative effect.

There are always a few signings that simply don't work out at all, for unknown reasons to Joe Public. This one is up there. We have Madsen and Celar that have big time struggled so far and it's not been working, but at least both have got out onto the pitch and both have scored a couple of goals each. If there is no other way than to cut ties and pay off his contract, then that's what I feel the solution is. I doubt we could loan him out again. Even Vauxhall Motors would say " No Thanks" !!!

Unlike most working people nowadays our very well paid footballers have a very powerful union looking after their interests. We can't pay off his contract unless he agrees to a settlement. And he probably has no incentive to do that. The only way to unilaterally get rid of him is if he is guilty of gross misconduct or he racks up a series of disciplinary breaches and works his way through the warnings system. And he probably has a well paid agent making sure he doesn't do anything that foolish. Sooner or later the penny will drop that the income and lifestyle he has become accustomed to isn't going to last forever and he needs to get off his backside and actually play some football.
Richards??? on 12:01 - Feb 20 with 434 views | stevec | This signing was probably the final nail in the coffin for Les and the backroom boys, so in some respect we owe this calamity of a footballer a small debt of gratitude.

We all laffed back in the day when Winston Bogarde rightly took Chelsea to the cleaners. That was more a case of Chelsea's fault rather than the player but what it shows is their contracts are so watertight the club is fked if the player decides to phone it in and the leagues are full of them.

Difference with Bogarde was that he was in his thirties, had a successful career behind him, and was probably on such a good basic pay at Chelsea that he wasn't worried about losing out on bonuses and appearance money. If Richards doesn't pull his finger out he will be out of the game at 25, before he has even reached what ought to be his peak earning years.

I know he has spent the vast majority of the season being rubbish, but Celar is a very important in one way. Those two wonder goals against Cardiff stopped the rot and was the start of starting to win games.
Richards??? on 12:55 - Feb 20 with 180 views | LazyFan | In his last year, he will be super fit, ready to play, and demanding he goes out on loan. Whereby we shall loan him for free to some L1 club. He will start playing decent but no better than George Thomas, who is also at Cambridge. After that, he will try to get a contract with an L1 club, Taylor Roberts style. But the word will be out on him, and he will have to go to L2 in France or Belgium or, worse, Hong Kong, ala Todd Kane. That's where it all ends, with stories to his mates about how he played a few games at the top level but injuries curtailed his career. How will he make money? Simple, the family would have spent his money on properties, and he would rent them out. While telling workers how to maintain his properties (as he won't do any work, just bossing), he will drive around in a flash car (but as an old man). The usual stereotypes will apply when he's on his second divorce and being taken to the cleaners. In 10 years, someone on here will mention him again, and someone else will say, "I forgot about that waster." That's his lot to be remembered and forgotten again. Who?
