Its a difficult one with Richards, maybe he does have a few issues. But there are so many people that are struggling in the country and whilst thats nothing to do with him, i can't help thinking he's messed up a bit here.
Without meaning to complain im not quite where i was hoping to be in life at this stage, divorced, renting a flat, financially not great. He needs someone to slam him against the wall and say mate youve got a chance to set yourself up for life here, you may have cash on the hip now, but this is the best earning opportunity you're probably going to get so dont toss it off |
I would counter that possibly one of the problems with Richards is that he may well be pretty well set up financially. He's 24, and has earned money from Man City, Brighton and QPR since turning professional.

I would guess he will be comfortable financially but imagine living another 50-60 years with that approach to life.
What is he going to do with all that time on his hands because if you can’t apply yourself to a sport you should enjoy, you are going to find it pretty tough going in the real world - even if you don’t need a job for money, you probably need something meaningful to occupy the time.
We should probably do the same and let him get on with whatever he has going on. I doubt we’ll see him back at the club and I doubt he will play much again, for anyone else. |  |

Compare that to Cooper (27 starts, 22 conceded, 14 clean sheets!) or Kelman, both getting rave reviews. Even Larkeche, who's had an injury, has 18 starts (15 in the league) and 3 league goals! These fellas are taking every chance they get to improve.

He and the undoubted wasted talent that was Leon J., both crossed my mind. I suppose you could add Ravel to the list.
I don't doubt TR 'had' talent, clubs like City and Brighton generally don't have a bad eye for such things, it's just a shame it's ended up with him as opposed to a kid who is working their butt off to try making it.

We can't pay off his contract unless he agrees to a settlement. And he probably has no incentive to do that.
The only way to unilaterally get rid of him is if he is guilty of gross misconduct or he racks up a series of disciplinary breaches and works his way through the warnings system. And he probably has a well paid agent making sure he doesn't do anything that foolish.
Sooner or later the penny will drop that the income and lifestyle he has become accustomed to isn't going to last forever and he needs to get off his backside and actually play some football. | | | |

I know he has spent the vast majority of the season being rubbish, but Celar is a very important in one way. Those two wonder goals against Cardiff stopped the rot and was the start of starting to win games. | | | |

In his last year, he will be super fit, ready to play, and demanding he goes out on loan.
Whereby we shall loan him for free to some L1 club.
He will start playing decent but no better than George Thomas, who is also at Cambridge.
After that, he will try to get a contract with an L1 club, Taylor Roberts style. But the word will be out on him, and he will have to go to L2 in France or Belgium or, worse, Hong Kong, ala Todd Kane.
That's where it all ends, with stories to his mates about how he played a few games at the top level but injuries curtailed his career.
How will he make money?
Simple, the family would have spent his money on properties, and he would rent them out. While telling workers how to maintain his properties (as he won't do any work, just bossing), he will drive around in a flash car (but as an old man). The usual stereotypes will apply when he's on his second divorce and being taken to the cleaners.
In 10 years, someone on here will mention him again, and someone else will say, "I forgot about that waster."
That's his lot to be remembered and forgotten again.
