Must admit I wasn’t sure about him early doors
The red card v Rovers could’ve crumbled him
His sub appearance today was great though wasn’t it? If only for that superb bit of skill on the left wing taking two Watford players out of the game????

He’s getting a lot more awareness of the Championship and showing better and better game smarts as we go. He’ll make mistakes but he’s got a good attitude and shows great endeavour.

I’m not 100% sold yet but I’m now filing him in the column of probably a successful signing by the club.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

For our first goal we had some sustained pressure where Oxford would get it clear and we'd go right back on the attack - Varane played a huge part in that stopping them breaking away and getting the ball back out to the wings. A couple of wobbly moments too but he's improving game to game.

That central block of 5 we have has been so key to this run we're on, with Varane now a n important part. A solid base of a team that can really grind it out:

Nardi
Cook Morrison
Field Varane

Varane definitely seems to be growing and acclimatising to the Championships relentless schedule. Do we think we might still go back for Hayden in the January window on a loan? Or has Varane established enough trust with his recent form now to mean we don't really need him after all? I'm undecided. The emergence of Morgan to our CM ranks might just be tilting me towards maybe we don't need him as much as we did earlier in the season. An injury or loss of form over the next week or two might sway me back the other way though!

You've got Varane, Field and Morgan plus Colback coming back from injury, to fill those two CM roles. So I don't think we'll be getting any loans for that position.

Looks a good, solid defensive midfielder. His passing isn't up to much but then if it was would he be at QPR?
Solid and alongside Field makes us very tough to play against.

What you'd ideally like is Dembele back fit and providing the thrust in the middle (ooo er) from the platform those two can give

First priority must be a striker if we're getting any loans.

Second and third priority, too.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Yes, absolutely. A striker will be the only loan next month and I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't bring in anyone. We spent what the transfer budget we had in the summer.

Another good performance. He deserves much more credit than he’s getting.

Yes an assist for today's goal but also as with so many in our team under hit miss hit passes.

Getting so much better and think one which we may get a good sell on fee for

captains fantastic

I think we might see 3 or 4 moved out on loan (if possible) in the window which might see us able to bring someone in on loan . A striker and a left back preferably .
Santos and EDB now not fancied at all at the moment so they might be looking to offload them plus other youngsters and possibly even Colback although that’s unlikely admittedly

Left back, no.10 and striker needed. Andersen and Madsen aren't up to the rigours of the Championship.

One month on and he’s got even better

Some may think the lesser spotted Colback a better option but maybe they’re just fishing?

Best Jonathon since Rollaball for me…..

Right

That’s it

I’m sold

This fella is class and was MoM over the 90 mins for me yet again tonight.
Getting better and better and better and I can see him being yet another double digit millions player for us in a year or so.

He’s now moving around the pitch with grace and poise and breaks play up and starts forward moves in one action.

Edging himself into POTY territory at the moment

I don’t know what his stats are but he seems to break up loads of attacks. Gets a leg, head, knee in, slows down the attacks.

Varane is a Rolls Royce. He has had months in the championship in a new country and is capable of controlling the midfield. He will only get better.

Could be a player that attracts big offers in a year or so. Every big team requires a defensive midfielder who can break up play and retain possession.

It’s not just those body parts in….. he comes out with the ball a lot of the time and in space and is composed enough to pick a pass.
As stated above, he’ll have mad moments, but he will get better and better.

Filled a big space today as for some reason Morgan seemed to play more inside right (and wider) than his usual position

Varanne Varanne I gotta crush on you….

I think EDB will almost certainly go out on loan

I like him. Think there is a lot of potential there.

But tonight I thought he had a very strange game. Did some weird, brain dead stuff. Twice turned down moving forward with the ball into space in order to turn around and then get caught in possession trying to play it backwards. Also overhit backwards passes, one over the top of the back 2 and one towards the corner flag. He made a couple of silly fouls. All in all I thought he looked a bit mentally tired.

He’s played a lot and is new to the league so it’s not surprise and something we should expect. I still think he’s growing into the role, the level, and the league.

He’s been good, not great, but good so far. And you can see there is promise of more.
