I'm as delighted as aonyone with the result of course, and how it came about, but wonder what Marti and others think about the performance as a whole, which I feel is getting muted a bit amid all the understandable relief.
Cardiff had nearly 70% possession, a massive 24 shots (7 on target), and 14 corners. We were defensively resilient, but Nardi literally saved us on a number of occasions. By contrast, apart from the goals and a decent effort from Smyth, we hardly troubled their keeper.
I know we're struggling, but this was Cardiff, not Bayern Munich - who until recently had been rank! Keep performing in that 'backs to the wall' way away from home, and we won't pick up a lot of points, I fear.
Watford will tell us a lot, when we'll hopefully have Colback back - though I'm a bit worried he'll be off the pace and pick up a card or possibly two.

Nardi did make many saves, but there was only one that I would classify as a missed goal & that was the header at the far post. All of the others were saves that I would expect my goalkeeper to make.
After the draw at Burnley, you suggested that our performance wasn't as good as the win there under Ainsworth due to us scoring two goals in that match & none this season. However, Burnley had far more pocession & real scoring chances in our victory than Cardiff managed last night (and in our draw this season).
Of course it wasn't a good attacking performance last night, but defending properly (and we did) is part of any match. We played far more attractive football against Stoke & Plymouth, but we failed to win either of those games due partly to defensive cockups & excellant goalkeeping.
I never noticed Arsenal under Bertie Mee, Don Howe or George Graham being described as lucky to win when they constantly won "backs to the wall" games at home as well as away! Not that our defence is in the same class as theres was, but we're not playing against the same level of opponents either.
If this is you being delighted, I'm pleased we've never seen you despondent!

In the cold (very cold) light of day I'd have to agree that I think we smuggled those three points but caveat that with it being oh so typical of the Championship.
We've waved plenty of teams off from W12 already this season with them taking one or two points away they didn't really deserve.
We do have clear and obvious issues which can be summed as being pace, brawn, bottle and finishing.

Well, I am delighted, but it's qualified, which is only sensible when we're concerned.
You make a good point about my apparent inconsistency in praising us more highly at Burnley under Ainsworth (two goals, three points, ludicrously defensive) than Marti (one point, no goals, a bit less defensive), but then I'm not even the same person I was a minute ago!

Yes - but apart from lacking speed, strength, courage and a goal threat, we're doing OK, right?
At the end of the day, it is what it is (there you go, two cliches in one)
As has been said above, we have played better and reaped no reward so personally I am unreervedly delighted with the 3 points, even if we did have less possession and it was backs to the wall.
I think Marti is well aware that we have players that are not yet doing it. Let's see where this win takes us and get back on our soap boxes after the next run of straight defeats
