Notice how he parries the ball away from goal towards the sides when making a save. Compare that to “more recent” players who do well to save, but knock it straight back for an onrushing opponent to get another crack at it. Saito is probably my POTY so far.
As a Championship keeper, Nardi is a mixed bag imo. Good with his feet and a decent shot-stopper, excellent positioining, but has been very poor on crosses and corners and is a huge reason, I think, why we're poor at defending corners as a team and why we have to bring so many blockers back.
Hope he improves his aerial game, and he may well do with confidence. |  |

I confess to having never been a goalkeeper so know very little about it. Only what I have seen from watching the game.
My thoughts on it are that he does what he is comfortable with and I am ok with that approach. You see lots of keepers come rushing out for corners etc and bumping into the pack and/or missing the ball, whilst leaving the goal unguarded. Nardi, unless he is sure he can get it, or needs to get it, seems to prefer to let the defence deal with it. When you have JD, SC, SF +1 or more six footers that should be good enough. JD has been doing this bit excellently in the last two games. | | | |

I love the way Nardi plays. Always alive to the game, great anticipation and very quick to react. A natural keeper. Not just some bloke who was made into a keeper because he was 6ft +. Great signing. | | | |
