I noted that. Research must have consisted of “oh, look he’s tall…and Danish, you say…”.
He is such an infuriating watch Madsen. Good first touch and clearly has some technical ability. But he has no position on a football pitch. Too lightweight, lazy, and asleep off the ball to be a 6. Doesn’t run enough - sprints, proper sprints - to be a box to box 8. And he doesn’t get anywhere near the number 9, not carry the ball at his feet to be a 10. He’s not quick enough to be a winger. He has no position.
I think he’s the type of player who may be better suited to a slower, less physical league (Italy?) where his physical failings and softness would be less of an issue and his technicality something you could afford. But I’d question if his discipline off the ball would work on Italy. Most managers would lose patience with him. |  | | |
