Cheery title, but also LISA STANSFIELD.

Where hope went to die – Preview 8th Nov 2024 22:47
Tuesday night’s chastening defeat by Middlesbrough at Loftus Road seemingly killed off any hope of Homer’s airborne pig coming back to earth safely, and leaves a beleaguered and injury ravaged QPR facing a daunting trip to Elland Road on Saturday. 4

Lisa Stansfield team news is genius

You may have to go Prodigy in the match report though

I went 7-1 as a forecast but must change that
God knows why I thought we’d score… OG again perhaps; but you need to get near their penalty box for that

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

😄 Very good Clive.

I keep thinking about the LFW clown page banner during the Briatore epoch, and wondering what might be appropriate for what appears a similarly disastrous chapter...?

Top writing and right tone right time.

While a few of us picked up on worrying signs before getting to the clusterf*** we are in now, reading the Nourry piece from last year, fair to say Clive (as well as Dave Mac) were pretty early in picking up the stench.

I remember writing about this time last year (just before Ainsworth got the boot) that the mess has got to the stage where we're probably at a stage where going down and rebuilding with someone competent in charge was probably the way forwards, hoping we do it right. While Marti pulled off a miracle last year to avoid this scenario, it begins to feel a bit like that again, except we actually have a competent manager who I don't see staying if we go down (indeed it would sadly be surprising to see him lasting the season at the moment); and even less trust in those above him than before. So if we go down, I'm very unsure we if we get that rebuild right. Worrying times.

Oh and BTW to finish on a bright note, we are also still in possession of one Taylor Richards, who will return to the fold at the end of the season indeed if not earlier (he's made a whopping two sub appearances for Cambridge, who must be getting royally p'd off with him and considering ending the loan.

Did anyone ever confirm Nourry's age? 11 years in football, the last six working for ownership clubs in football. Went to Oxford (and assuming he graduated), so he must be 33 in that interview, possibly 34 now. Yet your article says 26-ish.

Okay, so he must have been one of those people who goes to university (Oxford, no less) early and first attended lectures among the dreaming spires at age 11. We're bloody fortunate to have someone that smart at the helm.

Brilliant Clive. My feelings against Nourry grow ever stronger. Are your expectations that you will be writing the "big piece" a gut feel, or is there more to it, if you don't mind me asking?

If the longer piece does happen, Nourry is going to be in for one hell of a rough ride. From matchgoing fans, I've heard nothing but support for the manager.

If it happens, let’s hope a very rough ride indeed.

He's listed in the Old Pauline magazine as having been there 2010 - 2015, so he was 18 in 2015 and therefore barely 27.

Thanks Clive..loved the Stansfield part. Madsen should never put the shirt on again that stat no tackles in last 4 out of 5 games is criminal.

Love Lisa Stansfield, sad she has to be associated with the shambles we are witnessing.

Great article as ever

4.0 to the champions of Europe will be a remarkable under the circumstances.
I will disagree with you on one thing. We are free falling rather than been in danger of it .
Sadly last seasons get out of jail card won’t be there this season .
Prepare the constitutients for leauge one.
Will be watching in Ireland with my brother who has put up with this shit a lot longer than I have.
The legends will be in the away end today not on the pitch.

For perspective, I missed the game on Tuesday and I matched his tackling stats. Marti, if you reading this, I am available.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Yes, exactly. He’s a bullsh*tter. He is now 27. Was 26 when made CEO. His only experience is in recruitment consultancy, I believe in the non-playing side of football. I have no idea what qualifies him to be CEO or a DOF. Nothing can. The signs have been there from the off that he is not trusted and is in this for himself.

Now Hunter that’s just patently untrue.

He also had a failed stint as a marketing consultant before going into recruitment…

Sounds like you’re saying lose again today with a two week break ahead and it’ll be goodnight Marti.

For a team that hasn’t been the best team on the pitch in a single game this season, it’s hardly surprising. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed that kind of stat in nigh on 60 years of watching this lot, even 68/69.

When did Amit and Ruben film that hostage video where they acknowledged how everything had gone to sh*t? Last season? I imagine we're due another one soon.

I added it to the comments but I'll say it again here, 4-0 seems the type of score at which a decent opposition will take their foot off and put the cue on the rack to avoid embarrassing their fellow professionals. Leeds aren't decent.

I was up there for the 6-1 20 years ago and that QPR team was two divisions better than this one. We were dancing the conga in the away end because, well, because. Today could be downright ugly.

Clive - you have obviously heard something solid on Marti. It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t like what’s happening but why didn’t he walk in the summer when his stock was high?
You can see him going to Coventry where he would be brilliant!
If the club handle this badly it’s not going to get ugly at HQ.

I am actually not dreading the Leeds game today, more the Stoke game, Watford and future home games. I am really questioning why I bought a ticket for Watford (disaster again no doubt), as a season ticket holder who goes to all LR games, now really questioning whether I can face watching my team surrender any more at home. I salute the 1300 plus going up to Leeds today.

I watched the last 20 minutes of the Watford v Oxford last. Watford will annihilate us. Physical, quick and a left winger that is too good for this league.

Oxford look infinitely better than we do to boot.

Madsen and Celar simply cannot play against Leeds. It would be utter suicide.

Although clearly not rated by Marti, EDB must play alongside Varane and Field in midfield, providing the return of Ashby (10k a week) and Morrison can prop up the defence with Dunne reverting to right back.

Anyone that can run, jump and tackle to lead the line. I honestly cannot believe Celar is showing anything in training that justifies selection, which would suggest Marti’s hand is being forced to do so.

Marti’s pre-match is now just a regurgitation of his last three and there is absolutely no belief or conviction in the words coming out of his mouth. His and our end is nigh, unless something quite dramatic gives from upstairs.

Great piece, thank you

The first comment at the bottom of the article sums up our plight: "Pray".

We really do seem to be at the point where we are incapable of helping ourselves and are now reliant on own goals, points deductions, divine intervention or the intercession of benevolent aliens who have a thing about blue and white hoops.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
