Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station 13:28 - Nov 7 with 1960 views | eastside_r | And back again afterwards! Looking for some advice here. In my almost 40 years of going to away games, I have somehow managed to resist the charms of Elland Road - until now. I was going to walk it, seems about 2 miles which is fine for me, but looking at the potential routes none seem that great. There seems to be some mention of a Shuttle Bus, anyone ever used it? Presumably it will full of insufferable Leeds fans, especially on the way back. (Seeing how rubbish the trains are / have been, I have given myself ample leeway i.e. time should not be an issue.) Any other suggestions gratefully received.
Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 13:52 - Nov 7 with 1877 views | langtoft | Have used the shuttle bus a couple of times. Queues and clunky. Seem to recall most walking routes include dual carriageways. Last time I used the bus was after the 6-1 defeat. Not a non-yorkshire word was spoken during the journey. I'd get a return cab next time!
Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 13:56 - Nov 7 with 1855 views | Northernr | Taxis in plentiful supply on the way there, though getting near to the ground is an ars. On the way back we almost always walk it. 30 mins to the station basically. Not a pleasant route at all as you say but through Holbeck Park and down that way. It's a grim part of the world.
Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 14:30 - Nov 7 with 1791 views | daveB | hopefully find a taxi on the way back but from memory last time I went it was a bloody long walk I think my last visit was when Holloway went mad and played a random team he found on the streets before getting the boot 2 days later, this one has similar vibes
Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 14:53 - Nov 7 with 1747 views | James_Paddocks | I'd avoid the shuttle bus. Big queues way before full time and obviously rammed with Leeds fans...who aren't exactly a friendly bunch. Give yourself time to walk. It's possibly the sh!ttest away day of the season.

Five decades on and Leeds away is still the worst day out in football.

I'm amazed. Not only is the game likely to be a car crash, as James says above it's one of the shittst trips on the calendar. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 17:15 - Nov 7 with 1378 views | eastside_r | Thanks All. I considered cab there and walk back but I am going to walk both ways so I can reccy the route in the light and then re-trace my steps. I think it’ll be similar to Clive’s route which is nothing like the Map Apps’ suggestions, which as posters have commented involve dual carriageways with no pavements.

Imagine the support if we were any good. Truly astonishing for a rudderless football club .

eastside_r, whilst that's a nice offer from Clive, I'd probably only take him up on the walk to the ground, as old "Heart Attack" will probably still be all shouty after the performance on the pitch, so things could get dodgy on the walk back. Wait, what, this isn't a DM?!

Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station on 17:44 - Nov 7 with 1284 views | Rangersw12 | Any pub recommendations? Only been to Leeds once and that was a midweek game when Lee Camp came back on loan . I'm sure we drew nil nil and the crowd was pretty large as they did cheap tickets

Whitelocks. Somewhere in the City Centre. December 2010 one of the coldest days of the decade - most games were called off. Spent the afternoon in the apex of the cheese-wedge nursing a cold whilst being shouted at by Leeds fans and Leeds stewards. Nothing on the pitch to warm you either - Fitz Hall being turned inside out by the French forward whose name escapes me. I make it to the City Centre, frozen and beleaguered. I can’t feel my hands or any other extremities. I find a welcoming pub (as welcoming as anywhere in Leeds can be) I make my way in but notice the long brass door handles are being generously warmed by the central heating so I stand just inside the pub doorway gripping the heated brass (matron!) for a full minute slowly being reanimated back to life until someone else needs to come in. Decent ale too. [Post edited 8 Nov 15:00]
