Sunderland fans. 09:35 - Nov 3 with 4144 views | connell10 | Just wanna say every Sunderland fan I spoke to yesterday was very friendly and knew their football. Hardly any police on the walk up to White City station, which I think says alot being as it was a sellout. I hope they go up this season.

Sunderland fans. on 10:03 - Nov 3 with 3662 views | RsinWales | There was a bloke sitting behind me in The School End who was clearly from Sunderland but trying to keep a lid on it. I started chatting to him and he was a decent bloke, Said if we keep playing like we did we would be safe!

Sunderland fans. on 13:27 - Nov 3 with 3120 views | WestonsuperR | I stayed up there for the 2v2 away match (Deing’s goal) and despite a frustrating result for them every fan I met was very friendly and good for a chat. Very good fanbase. [Post edited 3 Nov 13:28]

Sunderland fans. on 13:38 - Nov 3 with 3077 views | stowmarketrange | I was talking to a Mackem who lives in Hereford on my walk yesterday and he was friendly enough. We also caught up with a few when we were leaving the pub with no beer aka the white horse, and they were concerned that they’d lose to us,as that’s what Sunderland usually do.We reassured them that we couldn’t score in a brothel with a wallet full of credit cards. Very loud and supportive of their team after the red card too. No doubt we’ll be up there in May to attend their promotion party,as that’s what we normally do too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Sunderland fans. on 14:35 - Nov 3 with 2845 views | Harbour | Yes I would agree they have always been a friendly fan base . Remember meeting a few after the game the year they were relegated to League 1 very dedicated support and always up for a chat no arogance unlike some of the fans from so called top clubs.

I'm not having Sunderland as a top club, are they really bigger than us? Both of us won one competition, they have a bigger fanbase, we have a more illustrious history, Europe and top flight finishes. We are as bigger if not bigger than Sunderland. They're just currently bigger than us.
Sunderland fans. on 15:59 - Nov 3 with 2556 views | Andybrat | Chatted with a couple on the way back to C&S said yesterday should be a wake up call from them and basically we are too good to be in the position we are. Both were absolutely pissed so suspect still in West London

Why would Sunderland fans, great as they are, think they would lose to us? We can't beat them when in league 1, we can't beat them at home, we can't beat them when they are on the beach, we can't beat them when they have 10 men. Sunderland, like a host of clubs like Norwich, West Brom, Plymouth, Blackburn amongst others are just clubs we invariably fail to beat which is why we will always languish at the wrong end of the Championship. By the way I'm not having a go at you for what Sunderland fans think but as they haven't lost any of the last seven meetings with us I cannot see how they think we would win.
Sunderland fans. on 16:10 - Nov 3 with 2509 views | Hayesender | Chatted to a group of thirsty Sunderland fans outside the Coningham who were looking for a watering hole. I sent them over to try their luck at the Adelaide, as they sometimes let away fans in. Hopefully they got in no bother

Sunderland fans. on 16:19 - Nov 3 with 2461 views | thehat | I met the Thames Valley Mackems a couple of seasons ago they were on a pub crawl from Chiswick to the Ground. Great set of chaps - Know their football and were very complimentary about our club. They even bought me a beer.

in terms of fanbase and stadium capacity, they streets ahead of us clearly But with all this, their teams over many years have consistently underperformed for many many years !! Generally, we have been at least the same level as them, but you cant really say we are a bigger club than them. That's simply not true. Maybe Connell and others praise their fans because they turn up in big numbers - no matter what their form and often that is extremely poor given their resources. Worse than most relatively speaking.. [Post edited 3 Nov 16:34]

Sunderland fans. on 16:51 - Nov 3 with 2315 views | NorthantsHoop | Chatted to some Sunderland lads in the pub before the game, good chat about us and them, nice set of lads, they seemed suprised that we were struggling this season. Remember at the same pub before the League Cup game a couple of years back having good interaction with Sunderland supporters that night as well. They are quite pragmatic about their team and prospects this season and are not as entitled as some fans of teams we could name.

I'm certainly not going overboard about Sunderland or their fans, but have only won one competition & we have a more illustrious history? They have been Champions of England six times, have won the FA Cup twice & played 86 seasons in the top division. They've never won the League Cup though, losing twice in the final!
Sunderland fans. on 23:54 - Nov 3 with 1231 views | cuppahoop | Couple of them sitting behind me in the lower school end muttering away after Bellingham was sent off why Celar having received treatment wasn’t made to leave play & re-enter which I thought was a good point to be fair. Then at the Bush market going up the stairs in front of me was a lovely little girl resplendent in her striped shirt with her Dad and asked her if she’d enjoyed the game to which Dad replied “ She fell asleep in the second half “ . So did I after the sending off was my response which prompted another Maccam to go off on one how “It’ll be recinded, never a red card, your guy rolling around making a meal off it etc etc.Arrived at Paddington & got speaking to another of their fans, first thing he said was,”Absolute red card and I was sitting next to his Dad who agreed “ who I assumed was Bellingham senior? All in all,a good point, not the worst nil nil I’ve witnessed and a great day out..
