The Babadook
The Wailing
Evil Dead (original)
Hellraiser

Hereditary (𝟸𝟢𝟷𝟾).

The eding scene where the boy becomes Paimon , the 9th king of hell ..

The music/ Score makes the scene. Totally unique. I've never heard anything like it. I shat my colon out in the cinema when i heard it full blast.

The same bloke made folk horror 'Midsommar', which imo, was the biggest load of carcinogenic tom tit i've ever seen.

Hail Paimon!. Hail Paimon !

Technically not a horror film but Dressed to Kill always scared the crap out of me.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Any recommendations for 12 year olds to watch? They are having a stay over (my son is 12 and it's his mates before anyone comments!!) and want to watch a horror but I don't want them going back to their parents traumatised!!

Something like World War Z...

I don't watch anything gory so

The Omen - still as scary
Dog Soldiers - the only film I've seen that is how I've imagined werewolves
Eyes Without a Face - watched recently that was good
Dead of Night and Cat People from back in the day amongst others
Shadow of the Vampire
Circus of Horrors
Don't Look Now

Thanks PunteR - nice to be back and see some good old familiar names - I was mostly talking to myself on the forum I set up (I ended up calling it the v@gin@ monologue to myself - can we type that word?)

I went to see the Demi Moore film 'The Substance' last night.

Aside of the actress playing a youthful Demi Moore getting her kit off without too much worry, biggest load of pony I've seen in ages and not what I thought it was going to be all about. The last hour ended up being a gory festival that wouldn't have been out of place in a horror movie.

Several times I just burst out laughing annoying some and triggering laughter from others. If you like blood, guts spilling out, needles, bit of gratuitous violence with a couple of fine pairs of Eartha Kitts, then this really is for you. It has, however, received critical approval, so what do I know!

Interesting. I've heard a few critics i usually rate saying how good this is, but also that it's very Cronenburg-ian, body horror stuff which isn't usually my thing, and sounds that way from what you've said!

A few new horror and horror-adjacent films I've not checked out yet but which sound good.

Oddity
Cuckoo
Strange Darling

Don't know if anyone else has caught any of these ?

I saw Oddity. Rated it at 3.5/5 on Letterboxd.

It's proper creepy but it feels a bit too much like a play rather than a film. And I didn't think it nailed the ending either. Not one I'll watch again.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

I watched it recently and thought it was pretty good until the last 20 minutes or so, which were utterly ludicrous. It was a good idea for a movie and pretty well done until it fell apart, almost literally.

Suffering since 1978.

I have a little claim to fame in this genre in that I wrote the short story that got bought to then create the film Event Horizon. It paid for me and my then soon to be wife to get married in France (she was French), put a hefty downpayment on a flat in Highgate and a decent car. I sold the rights so was uncredited.

I did a similar thing when I wrote another short story that eventually got turned into the film Bad Santa (also uncredited). That one paid for my divorce!

Never knowingly right.

Fk me

Number two in the LFW celebrity pantheon after the number one Ted Hendrix for standing down Gareth Bale

Two great films mate.

I’ve got the Orbital Event Horizon soundtrack on vinyl and it’s randomly one of my most valuable records, don’t think I’ve ever played it

Wow that's amazing, and a great, pleasingly symmetrical narrative! πŸ˜€
