Martin will cling on to his job.

Guardiola will say we are the best team we have played all season.

Annoying.

Is there anything more infuriating than a heroic defeat when you want points or a change?

Saints played very well today and unbelievably, just one win away from 4th from bottom. Three other teams are also.unable to win in this stupid league. The thing that isn't sinking in for some, is that this board and owners can't afford and / or won't spend tens of millions on changing the manager. And if they did, the new manager wouldn't be one of the good ones.

We don't pay the wages to match what the top managers want and they wouldn't want a relegation on their cv so they wouldn't come. We would end up with another inexperienced manager, who would be the next failure. People calling for the manager to go, seem to think after the appointments of Jones, Selles and then Martin, that we would suddenly appoint a top.manager. it isnt going to happen, so why do they keep asking for it? THESE OWNERS WONT DO IT!!!. In these circumstances, we might as well stick with Martin. Sack the board and owners, not keep changing the manager and getting worse and in debt.

Haaland missed 3 or 4 sitters today which he would normally put away.

He scores those, and it’s a completely different narrative.

City barely got out of second gear today, and still we hardly had a shot.

A number of times today we got in good attacking positions on the edge of their box, but then passed the ball back and the move fizzled out.

That is Russell Martin football. No end product.

How people can want more of the same is beyond me.

I got back from morning chores for the last couple mins of injury time and was flabbergasted to see us only 1-0 down and with a free kick and man city sending on Stones to defend their slim lead. Rather than pumping it into the box and seeing something happens we passed it around and it ended up back with Ramsdale who did a hit and hope to their left back who was all on his own and dealt with it until the whistle blew.

That is RM football and why we'll go down. Even with no time left and a goal down wed rather piss around with the ball than "risk the ball" (as I've heard him say so many times before). He'll be pleased he's bought some more time. If one point from nine games and last week's capitulation isn't going to change things, nothing will. We have terrible owners that think they can rewrite how to manage a club. It's really not much fun and there's nothing any fans can do about it.

1. We can't sack the owners. They will be here for a long time yet.

2. We did not play "very well" yesterday. We defended decently with 10 men behind the ball. We have forgotten that is the minimum that should be expected. We had 2 shots on target. I know that's a lot by RM's standards but by any reasonable measure it is not playing very well.

3. RM will be sacked at some stage, when better than now? Why delay? No manager can do worse than 1 point from 9 games, so what have we got to lose?

What have we got to lose? About 20 million pounds to change the manager by paying off RM. Last time, we ended up paying off Ralph, then we had to pay off Jones. We still went down.

When a new manager comes in, in our situation, they wouldn't have time to build a squad. They would need results immediately. I dont think we have the players to do it. We will still likely go down in my opinion and could do without having to pay off two managers for 30 million quid. If the new guy comes in and still gets relegated, he would go too, most likely.

If these owners, went Cortese style, and appointed a Poch or a Koeman with 100 million to spend in January, I would be all for it. But that won't happen. What's the point if bringing in a manager who is even less experienced than RM, with a poor squad. Remember, everyone said "What do we have to lose" when Ralph went.

And we did play well. It could all.come together.

Ultimately, it's the owners fault for giving RM a new 3 year contract.

Agree - it is a classic 'plucky Saints' type result that does nothing for either our points total or our abysmal managerial situation. To be fair, SR won't be pulling the trigger any time soon anyway, as others have pointed out. Too many previous f*ck ups + poor recruitment have hamstrung us irretrievably for this season and probably next at the minimum.

What a terrible set of owners we have been stuck with. Can we really say they have been any better than Gao?

Pep is bullshitting. Do you hear him say how well Arsenal or Liverpool played when they beat Man City? No. He heaps praise on us because we didn't lay a finger on them and pay him the compliment of trying to copy the way he coaches.

We will never get anywhere in the PL with RM because we don't have the players to play that way and never will. It may be good for RM's future career with a big club but it's useless for us. The "point" of bringing in a new manager is to move away from that style of play. Only Pep and RM are that extreme in that style, so any new manager will help by moving us away from that style that is a dead end for us.

Yes it's the board's fault for being clueless enough to give him a 3 year contract, but the sooner they recognise their mistake and take the hit, the better it will be for the club.

When you look at what Gao invested and the fact we managed to stay up there is no doubting we are now run by a bunch of clowns with no idea about the football side of things.

Christ, even Wreck it Ralph had more idea of football than Rasmus

They obviously didn't watch the Leicester game, and indeed there were few accolades for Steve Cooper when he took his side to Leicester and showed Martin how it should be done.
