Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 56401 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Rest of the Championship thread on 15:45 - Nov 28 by kensalriser | I bored myself banging on about this last season, but those stats are misleading without taking into account points deductions (as deductions cannot be relied on). So 22/23 50 points would have been needed, in 21/22 it would have been 47. 50 as a target is perfectly reasonable, but last season people were bandying around totals in the high 50s. This year the pace is well off, which isn't surprising given the number of teams involved in the attritional mid to lower table slug fest. You do need to be poor to go down, we can agree on that. Look how often we've survived! [Post edited 28 Nov 15:48]

But surely the point is that points deductions are becoming fairly commonplace, and part of life in the Championship? You can’t remove them to make a point if they have impacted relegation/survival in prior seasons. Personally I don’t recall anyone bandying around points totals in the high 50s to stay up last season. I recall people saying 50-53, which seems entirely reasonable. My guess will be 46 will keep you up this year.

Rest of the Championship thread on 22:10 - Nov 29 with 1519 views | ManinBlack | Remarkably Sheffield United have won 8 games in a row at home without conceding a goal. We are the only team to score and get anything at Bramall Lane. However, not only is there a gulf between us and the Premiership but also with us and the top of the Championship. Sheffield United 8 home wins to our zero says a lot.

Rather annoying the Portsmouth v Millwall game was called off in week as Millwall are 9 unbeaten and in good form. When they do play the rearranged fixture Millwall could have gone off the boil.

He's not on the bench because he came off it to replace Wells on 75 minutes.

They have suffered 3-0, 4-0 twice, 5-0 and 6-1 away defeats yet are above us in the table which highlights how terrible we have been. To add insult to injury we couldn't beat them with them down to ten.

Yes that would be something. As soon as his mate Frank gets back in management then Rooney loses his job. I see he made 6 changes from Norwich only for them to have another second half collapse.

Are you sure about that? Only one attempt was on target today which is the same old QPR. We are bottom of the stats for attempts on target in the division to date. Next game is against a team who has scored 10 goals in two matches and a club we have not beaten in the last 9 meetings. Until we start hitting the target more and winning at home will I believe the old QPR has gone.

It was a tongue in cheek comment mate. I enjoyed the game today though and QPR did go toe to toe with one of the divisions better teams and by that I mean, actually created a few chances and had a proper go at the opposition. That's far better than the majority of the games this season including that win on Wednesday. I like to think, with some of the injured players coming back, we can turn chances into goals, if they can keep up that kind of performance. [Post edited 30 Nov 19:01]

Until we start to actually win some games at home, I'm afraid that we'll sadly be one of the three sides relegated. We were given a decent start to the season in terms of there being a number of winnable home games, but have failed to do so. Even when sides were reduced to 10 players. With just three home games left this year, we need to beat Oxford and Preston. I can't see us beating Norwich who have scored 35 goals already in the league compared to our paltry 15. We have more points than we did that time last year, and this is a worse league than last year, so less points will be needed to stay up. We have loads of players to come back and we are getting better. Stop being so pessimistic.
