These Manager Appointments are Mad 09:06 - May 24 with 7345 viewsBAWHoops

It seems football has collectively lost its mind
Rooney to Plymouth
Maresca or Frank to Chelsea
Kompany to Bayern
McKenna to Man U

Now I'm not saying that Tuchel and Poch are the be all and end all, but 2 years ago they were 2 of the best coaches in the world. Now apparently nobody wants them and instead wants to hire someone who had oodles of cash in the Championship and therefore found it easy.

McKenna would be mental to go to Man U or Chelsea when Brighton want him. Those clubs will eat him alive

I’m very much a Marti fan, but there is an excess of exuberance in our fanbase about his achievements. How it looks from the outside may be rather different: in over two thirds of a season he moved QPR up five places and he did it with at least two Prem experienced players, one of the division’s best midfielders and an international striker.

I agree.

The end of next season will be different though if momentum is maintained.

well, i really hope people look at it like that and leave him alone.
Most people probably don't look at Colback and Hayden as PL players, and as for Dykes, come on mate. People aren't that dim, even in football.

Bare bones.

If Frank is going to leave Brentford now is probably the time to do it. His stock is high and if they lose Toney they could be in for a struggle next season, they might be on a downward curve anyway. chelsea would be a good move for him as if it works he comes out of it very well and if it doesn't he get s nice pay off with very little if any damage to his reputation whilst gaining experience at a 'big' club.

I think McKenna should go to Brighton, it's a step up but with a sensible club where he can gain premier league experience before getting a bigger job further down the line. I can't see anything other than Ipswich getting battered next season as they've made accelerated progress, meaning the foundations aren't there for top level football. Man Utd or chelsea would be stepping into a messy situation and swallow him up, he needs a stronger CV before tackling the egos at that level.

Kompany has never impressed me, lots of noise in the media but everything has been stacked in his favour and he's not pulled up any trees. His success seems to be 'plays nice football' and played under Pep, so like Maresca that apparently automatically makes you a top level manager!

Plymouth going for Rooney I just can't get my head around.

Poll: Who’s better?

I think if he was to leave for a club in this country, at least at this point, it'd be more likely a Championship team with some parachute payments rather than a Premier League. Basically to get a job up there from here you have to take a team there yourself.

Yeah, which is why the worry we should all have is the knock on effect of this madness - Burnley, Luton (if Ipswich went for Edwards which would be smart), one of saints/scum might be in the market - on us. SW gone hot and heavy for a big new contract for Rohl isn’t a coincidence

McKenna's a Man Utd fan as well, which you would think would make that even more difficult to turn down.

Pretty much Everyone in Ireland is a Man Utd fan . Most of them have never been there mind.
Great manager but turning around that run down tanker is some ask.

The 'at least two' I was thinking of were Begovic and Cook, but Colback has extensive PL experience too.

The point really is that despite the hyperbolic narrative, we weren't Rotherham, we had a squad with some decent players and Cifuentes moved us up a grand total of five places. That's not in any way comparable with McKenna's back to back promotions.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Liverpool by far the most fans in Ireland followed by celtic. I'd say united third ahead of Leeds

I'm delighted with all these mad appointments. Means owners are still idiots and no one is looking in west London and thinking 'ooh that marti looks quite fly'

I see that Burnley are allegedly trying to get £17m compensation from Bayern for Kompany.

I really hope Nourry is sorting a similar compensation clause.
