Jeepers, £5m of debt for a Conference League South club - although were in National League not long ago. But a heck of a debt. For all of our problems - we don't owe anybody £5m.

A real shame for Torquay and their supporters. A great, traditional club. Hope they can find a way out of their current predicament and bounce back. I have always enjoyed my many trips down to Plainmoor. Good luck to them.

"The financing of football in this country is precarious and can only thrive in the lower divisions where there is either a close collaborative relationship with the local authority, it is a trophy asset or is backed by substantial local individuals and businesses,"

Sad to see the news about Torquay but this is the way that football is going and keep going.

Forever etched in the memory is our involvement in a five goal thriller as the 23rd placed team the week before we were actually promoted.

If nothing else, in comparative terms, it does show that we are in a decent position for credible (and I stress that) investors to take a punt on us. Hope they can somehow get out of this mess, I’ve always had a soft spot them

There are a lot of similarities with our situation, except them being a bit further on in their journey in the non-league.

The point about getting back people through the turnstiles is important.

"It's really important that we get more people through the turnstiles, buy some drinks in the bars, buy programmes, because at the moment the key thing is to see that the players, the management that's left and the admin staff are paid because that's obviously their livelihoods."

Perhaps a similar call to arms by our Trust to the town for the Wealdstone game on Tuesday and the Oxford City game on 9th March ?

Why not the club?

The Trust is spread very thinly at present.

I was thinking more of a Trust web article/mailshot judd. It's bring a friend for £5.

We have 2,000 season ticket holders, 1,000+ Trust members + 2,000 possible friends for £5. It won't be a 5,000 crowd but Wealdstone won't bring many and there's not much on the telly to compete with it.

Appreciate that all volunteers will undoubtedly be stretched with everything going on.
