Of course. It’s just a case of whether he does well and jumps ship at the first chance he gets, or does badly and we have to pay him off. I make it 9 since they’ve been here, excluding caretakers. Monk, Guidolin (unfairly IMO), Bradley, Clement, Duff all sacked. Potter, Martin poached by bigger clubs (although Martin must have come close). Cooper walked. Carvahal contract not renewed.

Yes. We just do it more often than most clubs and we sack more than we get compensation for. Remember that glorious run of appointments from Martinez to Laudrup? Great times

Thing is,there no ambition or even a thought of doing well amongst this lot,any manager with ambition would be mad to come here as it more than probably ruin his c v and he be sacked in 6 months,as he won't get any backing..

That one word "ambition" or the lack of is the catalyst of our problems, yes they talk about having the funds , the where withal to improve the Club yadi da but really, We're in a darker place now than we have been since 2002 and this with so called successful business and sports experts .

I agree with most of that but we are not a managerial graveyard. The opposite in fact as other teams can clearly see when we have appointed a gem and they tend to go for them. Sadly our owners would not recognise, or support, progress if t hit then over the head with a mallet. It will not surprise me if Martin becomes part of a growing list of Swansea bosses who have made it to the Premier League.

Martin and Cooper defaulted on their contracts and theoretically could have be sued by the club. Martin is an appalling character. He defaulted on his own contract then bettered himself with out paying he proper compensation for breaking his deal. Southampton will eventually pay Swansea so the Martin himself does not pay it. Were Southampton a Premier league cub when they signed up Martin ?? Yes they were PAY UP. If SFC refuse to pay perhaps SCFC can go after Martin himself. It was him that signed the deal. It was him that broke it. The harsh words Martin had from the owners may relate to this.

Cooper was on gardening leave when he left. Martin was given permission by the club to speak to Southampton. It saved them paying him off and they will have compensation in time.

Cooper agreed to take the team through pre-season. Forest paid the required compensation which fully released Cooper from his obligations. Martin declined to fly out to the USA to meet the ownership and started work before Southampton honoured his contract at Swansea. They still have not. Southampton were a Premiership club. As a Premiership club they have parachutes payments and sold £150m worth of players. They would not have had those fees as a Championship club. Martin then on the weekend blows wind up the Welsh fans backsides and slags off the American owners. Many fans on here will lap up the buttering up and turn on their own. I recall Simon Jordan explaining how Benitez did the same thing at Newcastle.

Can you honestly blame Martin after the disastrous January transfer window? Claims from those above him of ‘preparing since the autumn’ etc only to be left with a weaker squad mid season. Steve, Jason, Jake et al were noticeably missing from the farewell gathering Martin held back in Swansea.

The window was not disastrous. Cardiff only signed one player. Most clubs only signed one player Sheff Utd did not sign anyone. Money is tight in the Championship. It was disastrous for Martin who had fallen out with TWO of his three forwards. Patterson and Obafemi. Whitaker was sent back but he had issues with him as well. Martin like lots of signing to obscure his fairings as a coach. When he got his head down and used whet he had he got better results. He had enough good player to get top six. Explosive talents. Obafemi Ntcham, Piroe, Patterson Whitaker. Cullen and Cooper as back up.

Certain players don’t have the intelligence to grasp opportunities when they are in front of them.

source on Martin declining to fly to the USA please? Is this 100% accurate? As compensation is still being discussed your claim is quite significant.

Don't listen to him. Martin was told that if he was interested in talking to Southampton not too fly out. The Americans could smell the £££s.

“The window was not disastrous …..”. “It was disastrous for Martin…”. I’d say as Martin was manager of the clubs first team, what was disastrous for him in terms of not getting players in equates to a disaster. “Whitaker was sent back” - that’s not my recollection, I thought he’d been brought back to be sold.

Which is correct, and I can assure anyone who cares to listen Martin was stopped from including him in the match day squad on three occasions.

He didn’t want to come back Martin didn’t want him to Plymouth didn’t want him to You’re 100% correct. Dragged back kicking and screaming would probably be more accurate
