Millwall travel 18:23 - Dec 19 with 6926 views | FrankRightguard | I think there might have already been a thread on this but…I am guessing no trains to Millwall on Boxing Day? Canada Water and hoof it the best option? Keeping your head on a swivel obvs.

No London Overground so the ‘New Crosses’ are out as well as no National Rail to South Bermondsey. Nearest open station (Tube) is Canada Water.

I've been via Canada water before and had a drink in the wetherspoons pub there with no hassle. Last time I went (nakhi wells) I went via Bermondsey and had a couple in the Stanley arms. This was moody as fck and not recommended

You can always go to Bermondsey tube station instead of Canada Water. Its only 0.1km further, but it might mean you avoid the crowds.Or jump on a bus going towards central London instead.

Millwall travel on 11:22 - Dec 20 with 6151 views | NorrisGreen | Are many going? Notice they've started giving away teams both tiers now so the allocation is nigh on 3000. Given teams like Leeds, Sunderland, Cov, Saints have sold it out this season it will be pretty ropey if we don't fill it irrespective of rail woes that day. Simple fact is this: if we were at home, 12000+ Rs would turn up (well, 16K if Hoos is doing the headcount), they'd find a way of getting there. It's therefore a bit limp if a quarter of those fans can't make an 8 mile detour/alteration to their itinerary for our only London derby of the season. Maybe I've got it wrong and tickets are selling quickly...... I just have a hunch a lot of folks will look for reasons NOT to go as opposed to putting in a bit of effort to get there. We'll see. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Imagine it’ll be 2500+. I’ve been put between the corner flag and penalty area so assume the central blocks of the lower tier have sold out and most people will prefer the upper tier. There are people who understandably avoid Millwall because of what it was but there are riskier away games these days.

You're right it's only 8 miles from LR but there are many have to travel a lot further to get there and, with no trains, will struggle to even get within casting distance of the Tube network.

Which ones are riskier? To be honest Millwall is usually easy/dull when away fans get funnelled in and out through South Bermondsey station. But with that closed, it makes this one a bit more interesting than usual. Went there on a Tuesday night in our Championship winning season, we didn't get let out for about an hour and a half! Very tedious.

Lost 2-0, and then woke up the next day to the FA charges regarding Faulin. That was a shite 24 hours to be a QPR supporter

I’d say Stoke and Luton for starters but nowhere is bad any more unless you’re desperate to find it or very unlucky. [Post edited 21 Dec 2023 11:19]

Like I say, limp. Been most games there in past 40yrs including a night game at Old Den where you had to traverse various oily lanes lined with tinkers yards, wasteland and a tunnel to get there. Never had an issue. Last several games there have been almost friendly...if folks are still nervous about going there I'm not sure they should be allowed outdoors unaccompanied at all. I'd normally go via Surrey Quays but will just walk from London Bridge on Monday.... brisk 30min yomp to walk off the turkey. Looking forwards to it.
