1. You get a singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer. 2. Don't be a bellend and pick a whole band that already exists. They have to be from separate bands. 3. Singer is based on their voice and not their ability to play bass/guitar etc. If you pick Geddy Lee for bass, he doesn't get to be singer. 4. They can be dead.
For me it's;
SINGER: Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) GUITAR: Geordie (Killing Joke) BASS: Jamie Stewart (The Cult) DRUMS: Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees)
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Keyboards: Steve Nieve (from Elvis Costello's Attractions / Imposters)
Bass: Mikal Cronin (from Ty Segall's band, also a solo artist in his own right) He is also a really good sax player.
Drums: Valentina Magaletti (been in loads of bands, e.g. Vanishing Twin)
Lead guitar: David Tattersall (The Wave Pictures)
Rhythm guitar: Frank Black (Pixies)
If I had to choose living people, then I would've gone for k.d. lang & Kevin Rowland (Dexys) on vocals.
But seeing as we're allowed to choose those no longer with us, I would like Sinead O'Connor and Otis Redding.
Terry Edwards (The Higsons /Tindersticks/ PJ Harvey etc) as as utility player (various brass / woodwind instruments / keyboards, he can play pretty much anything)
and The Big Man Clarence Clemons on sax too please.

SINGER: George Michael GUITAR: Gary Moore BASS: Bernard Edwards DRUMS: Paul Ferguson
I'm not sure it would come together very well though.

Patton is underrated but the people who know, know.

Which brings up another problem for people like me - I love music, it's my favourite art form, but I'm a really bad musician. Dreadful. I've tried. I can tell you who I enjoy, I can tell you who makes my ears swan, my eyes spark, my heart do the double bass drum-kick in 'Be my Baby', but I genuinely, genuinely have no idea who the best musicians are. As a non-musician, I'm just guessing.
