Can’t wait for Clive’s words on his performance! Been a while since we saw a Ref get escorted off by loads of stewards !

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

I presume we can expect another apology from the refs organisation 🤔

My son looked into reffing when he was younger and was put off by the abuse the parents of the U8, U9, and U10 were happy to give.

Yeh I refereed when I was a teenager, adults and kids, and by far the biggest problem I had, as a 13-14-15 year old refereeing 9-10-11 year olds, was parents and managers in initialled tracksuits treating the thing like a Premier League game. Abuse, screaming for an 8 year old who’s committed 3 fouls to be sent off, coming onto the pitch to try and intimidate me. At kids football.

He might well be new to the Championship but the 3 incidences of Cov players stepping over the ball and not letting free kicks and only carding one guy, and not the one guy who was already on a yellow is something he should be sacked for.

Sexy Asian dwarves wanted.

He was completely out of his depth. May as well have just given the whistle to Kelly and let him get on with it, he was basically refereeing the fcking thing anyway.

Jesus Clive that's weird, I also for some reason was looking at the Ref, (terrible performance) and you are absolutely correct he was looking thr other way and did not see Sinclair being taken out.

So frustrating watching hack after hack on mainly Chair, ( no yellows) first iffy tackle from R's player yes Yellow card.

Fair do's to Coventry, good side play nice football, but they don't need the Ref as well!.

I was Lino for my daughter’s game today and a woman called me a fecking cheat tw at because I didn’t give a throw in to her daughter’s team when their keeper kicked it straight out of play from a goal kick. She was the only one of about 60 players and spectators who supposedly saw one of our players touch the ball.
I don’t suppose she would’ve moaned as much if it didn’t lead to our equaliser.Another one of their fans was sent off by the ref in the 2nd half.
It’s not an easy job at times but the Lino yesterday was just incompetent, and he certainly didn’t help the incompetent ref out at all.

Somebody said last night he was refereeing games in Japan lower leagues within the last few months not sure if it’s true though.

One thing I want to know is why are referees watching the previous 3 games of ours before they take charge of a game ? Who bought that idea in ?

The club should be making an official complaint to the EFL about Saturday's referee and, if they possibly can, refuse to compete if he is foisted on us again. Frankly, Sinclair should have taken him out as well.

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?

Am I right in thinking refs have the capacity to tell their linesman to only make line calls and offside calls and leave the rest to themselves, if the ref so wishes, even at professional level?

It happens at amateur level, though admittedly the only pro, so to speak, is the actual ref.

It would explain the reluctance of quite a number of linesman to officiate on penalty decisions and even free kicks.

IF you're an experienced ref and IF they're inexperienced assistants you MIGHT consider it but this ref is fairly new and needs all the help he can get.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

I was told that once running the line at Gainsborough for an ex EFL official - just do throws and offsides, no fouls, and I even had to look to him for a signal about which way he thought those should be as well. Arrogant bstrd. I took absolutely enormous delight in flagging very enthusiastically for a second half penalty. It was blatant and I'm sure he'd have given it anyway but he wasn't amused.

Who brought that in? Webb

I'm not sure that it is any different to clubs watching the 3 previous games of their oponents though.

I think it was in Clive's referee appointment piece last week that Japan was mentioned & that it was sponsored by PGMOL(?).

Webb, of course, will be very busy this week defending/explaining the actions of his members this weekend. Far too busy to be concerned with the performance of our officials!

"I'm not sure that it is any different to clubs watching the 3 previous games of their oponents though."

Opponents are looking for weaknesses they can exploit. I wonder what are referees looking for. They should start each game with no pre-conceived ideas of players.

Do you not think that referees talk to one another & tell the upcoming official that player x did this, did that & expect him to react in a certain way?

Of course they should have no pre-conceived ideas, but no matter how hard they try, every person is guilty of applying them in life.

Personally, I wouldn't have needed Webb's guidance to watch previous matches of the teams I was refereeing. I would have been doing it as my homework!

Yes a group of them went over and did a few J League games last season. For what gain who can tell?

"The money in the game in this country versus the recruitment, retention and training of referees is scandalous. A top flight referee should be on £1m+ a year basic, with extra match fees and bonuses on top. It should be a real desirable job to aim for, work in professional football, earn a big wage, be part of the Premier League. The training should be the best in the world. It should be professional right the way down through the leagues. The money is there, the sport is awash with money"

Been saying exactly this for a number of years. It's so blindingly obvious, yet it doesn't seem to be a subject that is even mentioned yet alone properly discussed. Anyone would think the Premiershit wants sh*t referees so the TV broadcasters can spend hours on end after each match discussing 'incidents' which the referees, and now the same useless cn uts operating VAR, got wrong......

I swear the current implementation of VAR is just there to wind up fans and create media content.

I really don't think it is that difficult to get it right.

That’s what the ref told us yesterday. Not even fouls were we allowed to give.Just as well really because our 4th goal should’ve been disallowed for a foul earlier in the move that led to it.

I would have said, I'll flag when I need to, you decide whether you agree or not. He's lucky to have a volunteer.
