Another to add to the banned list of products, not that I'd been in need of them mind. £40 million into the coffers of those bástards down the road.

Anyone know how much our shirt sponsorship is worth?

How many of our sponsors are even alive within five years?

So what are the rules with Sponsorship as far as P&S go? Clearly, it can't be ethical for our owners' companies to give us £40m, but surely if there is an investor out there. there is no way that the football authorities can veto any deal they want to pay for?

If someone wants to pay £40m for a sponsorship deal on the front of our shirts. how could the authorities cry foul? I mean the going rate for a mid-table team in the league above us who are in as many cup competitions as us has been set, hasn't it?

Can we go out yet?

Remarkably good fortune for Chelsea that this company, which has an estimated turnover of £12m, has found the funding for a £40m sponsorship deal. The fact that Infinte Athlete is funded by the same private equity firm that funds Chelsea's owners is no doubt an extra convenience in the deal running smoothly.

I think sponsorship deals have to be within good reason so you don’t get someone sponsoring the broom cupboard for £50m a year.

Never had a problem buying Samsung products. Have got a TV and have hand phones as well as other stuff. Not going to buy inferior other products just because I don’t like Chelsea.

As long as the value of a sponsorship deal is comparable and within the same ballpark as others it doesn't matter where the money comes from.

Sheffield Wednesday were once sponsored by 'Chansiri' which was a company that did nothing, had no revenue, but was just a vehicle for their owner to pump more of his money into the club. Seems a strange choice from the owner but as he was paying an amount similar to other clubs received in shirt sponsorship it was deemed ok by the EFL.

Still won’t drink Coors to this day. I did have a Commodore Amiga though.

Don’t forget we’re a club that was once sponsored by “Blue Star Garages” (two of Jim Gregory’s old lockups in Feltham)

And ... Air Asia

Which, of course, was just mere coincidence.

I expect it'll be more than that. Gulf Air were paying us £1m/season in the Championship and that was double the Championship average or next closest (can't remember which) at the time. So I suspect it'll be at least £500k/season now.

I think a 50 million a year shirt sponsor deal with ArcelorMittal is on the cards surely.

What Gulf Air paid and what its worth now as a team fancied for relegation as opposed to a team potentially going up and owned by billionares are worlds apart.

Yes but my point was if most clubs in the championship were getting circa £500k/season back then, then I suspect it’ll be more now.

Our accounts for last year show £1.8m for sponsorship & advertising, surely a large chunk of that has to be short sponsor & kit sponsor?

Pretty sure over inflated sponsorships are part of Man City's current rap sheet arent they?

There's also tax rules known as transfer pricing around group transactions, you cant just do whatever you want,it has to be able to be justified with quantifiable evidence.
