Yet another absolutely ridiculous handball penalty decision given. Ruining football at the moment,

Lol, Spurs hit back straight away. Justice of sorts.

Balls going toward the goal, very likely going in. In the eyes of the laws obvious penalty.

His arm was by his side which seemed natural enough to me for a player crouching down and he could hardly get out of the way with the ball kicked towards him a yard away. By giving the penalty then there is scope for sending him off for stopping a certain goal so not sure why no card shown. This implies it was considered accidental so therefore shouldn't be a penalty. Had it been considered deliberate he would be off stopping a certain goal surely?

All very confusing but at the end of the day it is down to the opinion of those using VAR influencing the verdict. A different VAR official may have concluded no penalty as this handball was based on opinion.

Madison looks a good purchase, his two passes to Son were spot on.

1 win and 5 points for Chelsea from 6 games is funny though, so there is that.

Spurs look so much better under this new manager, played really well today

But, how could a referee NOT give a penalty when it was absolutely clear that the defender stopped the shot with his hand/arm? If that had been an opposition defender at Loftus Road...?

Is this the 3 worst teams in history to get promoted in one season? They could all be down by Christmas at this rate.
Shame really because I fancy Chelshite to get relegated too.

To be fair up until yesterday there were 3 teams without a win in 7 in our division.

A good advert why we are better off out of the Premier league avoiding the mega rich clubs. Sheffield going past our 6-0 home defeat to the Magpies.

Showing how far the gap is growing, but to be honest didn't rate Sheff U much last season and sold their 2 best players Berge and Ndjeyi.

Eight different scorers and they had a trip to Milan in the week yet still do this...

Whatever the rule, if you take a shot and it's going to be a goal, and it's kept out by a hand or an arm, I'd want a penalty.

Bare bones.

Burnley looked quite good yesterday & only lost to a superb goal.

I can't see how the other two will survive though!

Yeh I'm struggling to see the outrage about that one. Ball is going in the goal, defender blocks with hand, hand is raised in the air, it's a penalty.

They've tied themselves up in all sorts of contradictions around handball penalties, but I thought that was one. Simmo and I were watching it in a pub with no coms and both said straight away penalty, quite surprised to come online and find everybody saying it's a disgrace.

I was stunned to hear people like Gary Neville saying it was never a penalty. I think they have got so embroiled in the minutiae of the laws they have forgotten what the actual law was there for originally. You can't accidentally stop a goal with a hand and expect to get away with it.

As for the 0 8 today, just shows that if we ever (ho ho) got promoted again, we need it to be on the back of a successful, long-term plan that will also include what we would do if we got promoted. Rather than just hope we get there, spunk £100m on mercenaries and go round in a circle.

Mind you, chance would be a fine thing.

The trouble with VAR and handball decisions is it is down to an opinion of someone locked in a room. In which case we should just leave it to the ref's opinion. Opinion is divided about today's decision as it was for Burnley's disallowed handball goal at Forest. The chap watching on VAR was of the opinion it was deliberate but another person on another day would have allowed Burnley's goal to stand. That should be the job of the ref.

My concern with VAR opinions is that it is open to opinion which allows them to favour the big clubs. An accidental handball by a smaller club's player against Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc will result in a penalty but if the other way round against the big club it will not be a penalty for the smaller club. We saw that in the United v Wolves game when the ref and VAR deemed the keeper cleaning the Wolves player out was not a penalty in their opinions. For everyone else watching it was a penalty...

Handball isn’t the same for the attacker as it is for the defenders.I don’t know how Newcastle’s first was allowed to stand as he controlled it with his hand.It might not have been intentional but it affected the play, which would’ve been given as handball if it was the defender who did it.

Under current rules a clear pen but I don't like the rules and how many unintentional handballs you can do nothing about as a defender result in pens these days.

Ange Postecoglu completely turned Celtic around (they were struggling when he arrived and Rangers had just cantered to the league by 20 odd points) and made them nigh on unbeatable for 2 years and now he has Spurs playing superbly despite the loss of Kane. He has the ability to get players to run through walls for him. I'm starting to think he'd be an ideal England manager because his style would be so well suited to the attacking talent England has available. He certainly would not be taking the conservative approach that Southgate does.

I was watching the Europa games on tv here in the US. They have a host and 3 pundits in the studio and the screen was going to every match when there was an incident or goal. In the Liverpool game a penalty was awarded and all the pundits saying never a pen, that’s what rio-Coker kept referring to it as. They then asked a ref expert who said definitely a pen! and explained why brilliantly and eloquently. The muppets in the studio weren’t having it and kept saying never a pen. Give me strength. FFS
