Agree with where most have got to on this thread - there is a MASSIVE difference to thinking something and wanting it - hence "heart and head" type outcomes.
There should be absolutely no doubt that after October, we were, statistically and to the eye, potentially the worst team the Championship has seen. Pulling no punches, it was disgraceful and completely soul destroying - take those freak results v Burnley and Stoke away and we were down after being top in October. Was it 30 points after 16 games, then 18 more in THIRTY games. ONE win in FIFTEEN HOME GAMES FFS. **SHUDDER**
It takes a hell of a lot to get one's head round that and to convince it we'll be better this year.
On paper, the squad we appear to be going into this season with is miles behind that squad from last year. The mentality issues and the lack of work ethic from those players maybe the thing that gives us a little hope. This lot we have this season might be as bad as my head tells me they will be, but we can hope that they will try and try and try. Hopefully that will lead to a series of Watford (h) performances. BNUT, again, my HEAD tells me that won't be enough.
Do I want things to pan out that way - god, no. Do I even want to have "pleasure" in saying "I told you so"? No, of course not; I'd rather be wrong.
I am still struggling to find ONE let alone three teams worse than us.

I dont get that this squad is "miles "behind last years .
We have lost , Johannson , Dickie and Seny all were pretty rank last year , signed Smyth , Larkeche and prob Begovic .
The only loan player that played properly was Tim, the rest you could argue disrupted us and dragged us down
At this time we retain Willock Dykes , Chair , Field. all players that would start in most teams in this division .
The result at Burnley and Stoke were not freak but planned ,in a way that was not pleasing on the eye but got us over the line with a bunch that were not ideal for the purpose in every way .
You may be right , my eldest son shares your view entirely but we need to just wait and see what the other teams have and who is in our squad in August |  | | |

You do get the feeling though there are one or two fans (you get them at every club) who want the team to fail just so they can say 'I told you so!' and say they were proved right. Sadly that usually reflects their outlook on life too. |  |

To be fair I havnt seen it at LR . Plenty of people coating off the various mangers and players week after week but after getting to know a few they just want the team to do well and cant keep a lid on it .

It’s not out of the question. Their squad is not set up for Ismael. Not at all. They’ve released Cathcart, who, whilst 34 and clearly past his peak, was one of the leaders in their dressing room and someone they could rely on through tumultuous times. Their best player, Pedro, who bailed them out so many times last season has also been sold.
I don’t think it’s out of the question that come the first game they are not all on the same wave length and you see some of their fancy dans not buying into Ismael, who’ll ensure the ball will be in the air more so than Ainsworth! It won’t be one for the purists. | | | |
