These guys were purchased cheap and were unheralded by our fans but made a huge difference on the pitch and provided proper leadership: this is just what we need as we had none of that last season.

When I saw the first 2 names, the first person I thought of was Tarrabt. I first came across Derry and Hill whilst watching Adel make a monkey of the pair of them at Selhurst Park. I was in their end and whilst my Palace season ticket holding mate loved Adel, he couldn't tell me enough times how shit and slow the other pair were. TBF Adel did that to many people, but he seemed to take the pair of them out of the game at the same time, every time. The double marking really wasn't going so well. Think Warnock was the Palace manager at the time.

Shaun Derry and Clint Hill were fantastic players for us.

Depth is what we need. Bodies that are available with a bit of talent and loads of effort over "classy" players like Balogun, Laird, JCS, Johansen, Willock and Roberts who can not get and stay fit. A settled team with the right spirit from the off might just be the best we can do... |  |
