just saw some highlights, Jofra Archer was in it, so I looked up where he is, he is still out injured with an elbow injury

Jofra spends to much time in the Caribbean enjoying life, he should concentrate on his career, rehabilitation and recovery. Water skiing is not the answer.

The media love-in has taken a hit already.

Pundits/reporters moaning about performances and approach to the match.

It's exactly like their football team (and celebs for that matter) built up to get knocked down.

Another International cricketer who has found he can earn more money travelling around the world bowling 4 overs a day - than knuckle down to the hard work of 4 and 5 day cricket.

I take your point though about the incredible amount of injuries - especially to England fast bowlers.

Many older professionals are linking it to the England set up where they change their bowling action, run up etc - plus they're not allowed to bowl many overs like they used to, so they never really get match fit.

3 wickets down since I come home at half 4. Duckett going for everything when needing two runs for a century, Pope trying to hook every ball and Smith catches Root with the aid of the ground helping cling onto the ball, just how that is allowed I never know, the ball clearly made contact with the ground before Smiths hand of fingers.

Went to Lords today, Australia played like they thought they had enough runs in the morning. Crawley looked set until a rush of blood, I'll forgive Pope but Duckett and Root didn't seem to realise that with Lyon off and the quicker bowlers wearing themselves out a bit of sense could have put England in a very strong position.
All in all a very decent day of cricket though.

I haven’t seen this morning’s play but the one comment I heard when I switched on to see the score was ‘they need to know when to defend and when to attack’. It seems it’s full speed ahead only which won’t work all the time nor in the long run.

Either way,it’s been compelling sport and make no mistake.
Stokes is as brave a competitor as I can remember in recent years but he missed a few tricks in this Test.
He also has to remember the Aussies aren’t mates. They firking hate us.

Bairstow was negligent but what a way to win a game .
