That’s only about a third (roughly) of that section .
And that’s what annoyed me about Lee Hoos’ slight contempt in his interview last week. Poorly or not he has given up on the next generations of supporters . Where are they? The club need to do so much more to entice youngsters to come and watch us play .

Exactly this they have made the seats available at a £1 which is a good promotion, the rest is about enough people wanting to take up the option. There has to be a motivation on the fans side, that usually comes from the team doing well on the pitch or in this instance a club legend returning to manage the team.
If the tickets are in the Lower school end that holds 1200 approx but they won't sell the front rows for safety reasons.... |  | | |

Precisely. I'm sure the attendance will be decent because of the new manager but if he hadn't been appointed, you're not getting queues of people to watch a team that's won 1 game in 18. Conversely, if we were in the top six and chasing promotion, there'd be far more interest. We took 40,000 to Wembley - there's a fanbase there if we want it. | | | |

Yes in hindsight and reading the comments back my original post comes over as a bit of whinge so apologies for that .
I was maybe trying to get over a point I’ve been making for 20+ years that I thought the club needed to try harder in filling the lower school end at certain games by trying to connect with the kids on that huge estate opposite and the huge amount of ‘traffic’ going in and out of Westfield everyday and by making us a ‘presence’ locally .
having one match that is kids for £1 in the middle of a dismal run and people saying ‘what else can the club do?’ blows my mind a little . Lee Hoos has always been someone I backed and admired but he looks defeated now . Maybe because he threw his eggs into one basket and said we have to move to survive , he didn’t think the local community would be the local community for much longer ?
I work a lot in South West London and see billboards for Palace on the A3 and Chelsea in Wandsworth and Fulham in New Malden.
I no longer do much social media but I’m across some of it but apart from the initial announcement and a post yesterday weirdly, I dint think there has been much advertising about tomorrow at all. I could be wrong and I stand corrected if so but the club still needs to do so much more .
I get that these things cost money and it’s got to be spent wisely but did Les need a brand new re fit for of his private box at a rangers this year which would have cost a pretty penny let me assure you ?
Anyway, it was just a fear. A fear that the older generations will die off, bought to hand with my dad being diagnosed with cancer in the last month or 2 . He has followed Rangers home and away for near 70 years . But this generation is fast leaving , and the club need to be sure there is a future generation ready to step into their shoes and follow this bonkers but amazing club [Post edited 24 Feb 2023 8:23]

I'm actually surprised by the numbers of young fans i see at games every week.
Said it before and say it again: do all the promotion you want, but part time fans will not come to an uncomfortable ground, with poor catering, in cr@p weather and so on... unless we're winning.

This is the first week in ages that the club have put out loads of content. I fail to understand why every single picture/video/post/interview hasn't mentioned Kids for a Quid.
Get Ainsworth to promote it in his interviews etc. There's so many eyes on QPR this week and we've done so little to promote this brilliant initiative.

Don't know if they still have these up, but noticed them last time I was in the area. Palace have a much bigger presence and that has coincided with them being in the Prem. To be fair, they've all been involved with the local community, I know they've got links with some of the local schools etc, but I've seen loads more Palace fans knocking about than before. Zaha has been a massive selling point for the local community, seeing someone come through the ranks and now Eze. South-East London is a bit of a football factory. You can read more about it here:

The thing about us is we don't have that same link or culture in the local area. Most our fans have moved away from the area and the local youth are more likely to wear a PSG tracksuit and wouldn't even know we exist. It takes a lot of time and effort to nurture those links and invest in local talent. The club has missed out on numerous players and given all their reasons. I feel like we're more of historical relic than a progressive football club. There's nothing appealing about us for the local community.
When I tell people I support QPR they usually, depending on their age, mention:
1: Bowles/Marsh
2: Something about how crap we were in our last PL outing
3: Either love/hate Loftus Road
I think we're seen as a joke club and to be honest we don't do much to change that perception. |  | | |

I must admit I'm with Hoos on this one. Why keep trying the same things that have been tried before, cost money and simply don't work in the long run? I don't often disagree with Dave Mc but his theory that if we got LR packed every week we would have better home advantage - whilst it makes sense, evidence proves there is only one way to do that. Win. Lord, it only takes about 3 wins on the trot and we all know that the QPR fans who visit occasionally are suddenly scrambling for tickets home and away.
Give us a football team worth watching and it will be packed every week.

A friend of mine, an ex-season ticket holder so the club will have contact details, was surprised to hear yesterday that the kids promotion was happening. He is a prime target for this type of promotion. I only came across it by accident buried in the ticketing section of the website.
This is the equivalent of shooting fish in the marketing barrel. A new manager and the positive atmosphere around that, there shouldn’t be a single seat left if done properly. We really don’t help ourselves sometimes. | |

Palace has always had a large fanbase though, even when they were in the Second Division. Croydon is a pretty massive borough, and while you always had your Chelsea or glory team fans and the odd teenager attracted to Millwall coz they was hard, that whole area was traditionally Palace. That's been accentuated by being successful over a long period of time and benefitting from the new demographics that have moved into the area and see someone like Zaha as reflecting their own immigrant experience. | | | |

A good post mate sorry to hear about your dad, cancer is brutal and can happen to any of us at any time, it certainly brings life into perspective very quickly.
The initiative of kids for a quid is excellent and should be used more often, to be honest I didn't even realise it was happening so I googled exactly that, it should be on the front News page of the website constantly, that's down to whoever is in charge of marketing giving the instructions to the web design team supposing it's outsourced, although we may well have the ability in house to update our own web pages as an administrator. This type of initiative can only be used for a limited number of games, when we can sell both tiers to the opposition we will inevitably take that option as it brings in more revenue and also the games like Luton, Millwall and Birmingham are a non starter for obvious reasons.
I agree that the club has been actively pushing for finding a new stadium site for a number of years, unfortunately each opportunity has hit a barrier, invariably because land value is worth far more to anybody developed as residential than handing it over to a football club. We are battling an uphill battle with H and F council one where they never seem to want to compromise and if we tried piling money into a proposal for Linford Christie like we did Warren Farm it sounds like we would end up with a protest group again to battle, fingers well and truly burnt.
So the foreseeable future we are staying at Loftus Road, personally not that upset, and we have to maximise every opportunity for promotions, I hope the Blackburn game Kids for a Quid is a step in the right direction, it should be used more often. As for not seeing young people to be honest I agree with Antti I do see a lot of young people, these days we get the train from West Ruislip to White City and there's a lot on the train. It's great to see but we need more and we need a winning team to motivate new people to try a game, we know the ground has its problems but that will not matter too much to a new fan if they are entertained by the team on the pitch, plus they have all the local hostelries  to experience.... 
Like lots of people on here I have the Official App on my phone, the Kids for a Quid should be just under or above the Pre match Ainsworth interview on the Latest page,it can be done.....quick google of the staff directory this should be directed to Paul Morrissey does he have a Media/Internet guy working for him..... Some excellent points, yes people seem to hark back to QPR in our mid 70s heydays. I am one of those people late 50s/early 60s who have moved away from where I was brought up in Northolt, but I still go to all home games from my home 60 miles away in Northampton. There are quite a few Rangers supporters up here, but again they are ex Londoners who are my age and a bit older. On ticket prices really need to be considering further discounts on some of the mid week games for both adults and youngsters. What you allude to about local community engagement does need to be factored into decisions on a new stadium i.e. looking to where you can grow your support base. |  | | |

So if they've left it this late to advertise its not necessarily that unsurprising its not rammed out, people will make plans with more than a few days notice.

Its taken me over 30 minutes to buy a seat for tomorrow on the website.
Everytime I tried to fill my cc details and submit it sent me back to the homepage.
Then I decided to sign out/sign in again item was still in the basket entered different cc this time hit send and it took me to my profile page!!!!
Gave up phoned the box office got straight through and got that seat i wanted , easy peasy japonesey

Thats true, promotion for the Wigan home Match earlier this season.. you know the one... the last time we won at LR..... I took my mate, his 10 year old, my Mrs and our 7 year old and we sat in the lower School end as that was where the offer was.
Of course the kids want a drink and something to eat. Could we get served? Could we bollocks.
And when the second half had re-started and we were still queuing in some sort of melee looking in disbelief and the slowest canteen staff imaginable, they'd run out of everything except beer. Shambolic and f*cking infuriating. A few hundred quids worth of business they'll be missing out on doing that every week no doubt.
