Sad news is the passing away of Keith Sanderson, died in a car crash on Christmas Eve, one of our heroes of memorable 60’s side that won the cup, not a stand out player like some but always gave his all, RIP Keith
Long time ago now but the way I remember it is that Keith Sanderson and Mike Keen were the engine room that enabled Marsh, Allen, Lazarus and Morgan to do the dazzling stuff up front.
I believe he is the only part time footballer to win a major cup final at Wembley. Might be wrong now , but definitely was at the time.
RiP Keith
That’s awful. Sandy was maybe my favourite player. Really intelligent guy... had a degree from Oxbridge I think ( was probably Cambridge but I’m an Oxford man so I colour the memory!) I’ve always thought a clever player was worth their weight in gold. I’ve got an LP record that was issued at the end of that wonderful 66/67 season and Keith’s bit stood out. I will always remember. Everyone else gives blandish answers when interviewed, but not Keith who pontificates on the theme that there’s no such thing as luck in football, and he was right. I’ve often quoted him since. “ luck”evens out. The best teams don’t need it, they make their own
Very sad news. We called him the "Schemer",he engineered most of the moves that saw us promoted in 67/68 and winning the League Cup.Unspectacular but vital. Honoured to have seen him in his prime. R.I.P. Keith.
RIP, Keith Such an underrated player. So clever and a great guy. Very important to the team as was another very underrated and seldom mentioned player Mick Leach.
