Was great to see the game stopped by the ref and all players and officials clapping. As for the match, pretty much even stevens for the first 45 minutes apart from a few blocked shots and a great save to the left by their keeper. Second half was probably the best 45 minutes we have played all season. Completely battered them and had we had a bit more luck and got that first goal then I think we could have seen an avalanche. Their keeper made some great stops and also again the amount of blocks they got in was more than plenty. Willock and Chair totally dominated again and were unplayable at times and if that move that was a triple lay off in seconds of each other had produced a goal I think we would have closed the book on goal of the championship for the season. Really don’t think anyone had a less than decent game and was pleased to see Lyndon play his best 45 minutes for a long time. Their centre backs could not cope with him. Full backs once again look exciting to watch and both unlucky not to add their names to the list of goal scorers this season. I’m actually looking forward to seeing how this team copes against the likes of Sheff Utd and Norwich. At our best I think we can turn them over.

Enjoyed the game though and yes, the minutes silence and the clap on 70 mins was exceptional. Couple of observations: - terrible ref again throughout, culminating in denying Stoke a fairly obvious pen at the end. - what's happened to Sam Field, seems very off the pace and hesitant in the past couple of games. - Stef, superb again, hope nothing serious, the international break has come at a good time for him i reckon.

Think we were lucky that they started with Delap and the bloke in the Dwight Gayle costume rather than Tyrese Campbell because he always seems to enjoy playing us. I thought Laird was our best player, proving to be excellent defensively alongside his quality going forward.

Stoke were well-organised, managed to cope with what we threw at them, and could have even stolen a win. There was a period in the second half where we stepped up our game, maybe around 50-70 minutes, and we still couldn't score. After that I thought we probably we weren't going to win.

Impeccable minutes silence and considering Stoke took us to the cleaners last season , I thought we outplayed them most of the second half . Belagon was imperious and Jimmy looks better for it. Jo jo is back to his best. We are right good side and will get better. Once again though . Can we please have a goal at our end. It’s been a while!!
0-0 But Enjoyed That on 18:41 - Sep 17 with 2451 views | NW5Hoop | I managed to miss all three wins, so I was certain the streak would end the minute I got to see a game. Sorry about that. I thought we were better than them, and probably deserved to win. But I was disappointed - I’d been desperate for a performance like the ones I missed. I didn’t think we were bad at all, but a bit sluggish sometimes - I know, only one change from Wednesday. But there was also a tendency to “just give it to Chris or Illy and one of them’ll sort something out.” Well, you would, wouldn’t you? But it looked to me - terrible view for perspective, front row of the West Paddock - as though Stoke were OK with that. Every time Willock or Chair got the ball, they were offered inside and Stoke just went very narrow and packed the width of the box. All the pair of them could do was pass across the face of the box or shoot through a thicket of legs, both of which they tried a lot of. I thought Stoke did well, to be honest. They showed actual interest in winning it for a while. And they dealt with our two biggest threats, probably realising Johansen wasn’t going to be managing much in the way of supporting runs after playing at Millwall. But a clean sheet, decent enough. We probably should have won it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think one disadvantage for us was playing a Neil team so soon after the last one. Having seen us first hand at Sunderland their manager knew how to nullify our threat. He probably pointed out that if we don't score in the first half then they wouldn't lose and he would be right...

Most seasons we’d have lost that game but we seemed resilient virtually throughout to a very organised team. Paal and Laird did everything right with their chances, just some very good goalkeeping kept us out. Thought that was a nailed on penalty for Stoke at the end and I’d like to see that disallowed goal again at the start. Probably offside but wonder if the linesman got caught by the speed of the move. We look decent in most departments apart from the critical one.

Interesting you think Field hasn't been quite on form recently as I've felt the same. He just doesn't somehow look as comfortable as he usually does. Still, he's got a two week break from playing a game now and I'm sure he'll come roaring back.

Much better second but not sure their keeper had many saves to make, fairly even match overall so can’t complain with only a draw considering the chances they had towards the end of the match and possible pen.

While I don't like having a go at our players, Field has a big confidence problem. That is in front of goal. He's a passer and thus he wants to pass when a shot is a better option. There was a clear example in the second half and there have been others in past games. What can be done I am unsure but MB has to work on it as when Illy and Willy are marked out, players like Field will have to take the initiative and shoot instead of just passing it on.

I thought it was a fair result, although I can only remember Seny having to make one save in the game. Gayle should never have got himself offside for the disallowed goal, thank you Dwight! IMO the possible late penalty for Stoke looked like a non event seeing it on the extended highlights, but I'd rather we didn't give the referee an option to award it! Overall, I thought the referee was decent, which isn't always the case! The standout for me was Beale taking action at half time to change the course of the match. From chasing the game, we took control, but I never felt that we would score a winner apart from the well worked corner routine that set up Paal.
