Non-League 22/23 10:24 - Jul 2 with 45318 viewstoboboly

Thought we could have a season long non-league thread, I know a few people on here are keen on groundhopping.

After Hillingdon Borough cancelled last minute last week I am heading to Raynes Park Vale v QPR XI today. Not a new ground but always good to make a ground tick "hooped" by watching QPR there.

Anyone else heading to a game today?

Going to Wingate v Brightlingsea tonight, hopefully the lack of a manager will inspire the home team again after they got their first win at the weekend!

I’m going to Wealdstone v Notts County tonight.

It’s actually a decent standard of football to watch.

Was at the Wrexham vs Halifax match last night, very poor first half but Wrexham came out second and bossed Halifax, well deserved victory, be Wrexham & Notts County for that automatic promotion spot come end of season

FA Trophy Draw just announced (yesterday, I think) for matches to be played on Saturday 19th November. Remember that we do not have any game that weekend. Some juicy ties for sure. I may head to Welling v Havant & Waterlooville given how well Welling have been playing of late and what sort of mindset Havant will be in after their big clash with Ebbsfleet tomorrow evening.

1 Bradford (Park Avenue) v Farsley Celtic

3 Chester v Lancaster City
4 Spennymoor Town v Runcorn Linnets
5 Southport v Curzon Ashton
6 Warrington Town v Guiseley
7 Marine v Scarborough Athletic
8 Blyth Spartans v Buxton
9 Darlington v Alfreton Town
10 AFC Fylde v Colne
11 Matlock Town v Marske United
12 Kings Langley v AFC Telford United
13 Tamworth v Boston United
14 Banbury United v Stowmarket Town
15 Heybridge Swifts v Hereford
16 Leamington v Bishop’s Stortford
17 Coalville Town v Hednesford Town
18 Chelmsford City v Redditch United
19 Braintree Town v Brackley Town
20 Leiston v Alvechurch
21 King’s Lynn Town v Hemel Hempstead Town
22 Kettering Town v Gloucester City

I see Maidenhead lost 1-0, how was it?

With games falling to the weather I ended up at Letchworth Garden City v Northampton Silesby. Letchworth lost 3-1 and the crypto dude who owns Bedford was in attendance, didn't look like the sort of bloke I would have a beer with.

Wrexham made hard work of what should of been an easier win, Mullins fired a Penalty high and wide in the 80th minute and Maidenheads keeper Andre Jnr made some decent saves too keep the score down, don't recall Maidenhead having a shot on target all night. Nott's County dropped points at home to Bromley so only a 1 point gap at the top now!

went to Hampton & Richmond last night.

They lost 6 0 at home!! All the St Albans goals were very well taken tbf.

What I like about non league is that you can see a superb bit of skill followed immediately by something that wouldn't look out of place on a Sunday morning!

St Albans seem to have a fairly professional set up - our youngest played their U7s a few weeks ago, they had their own goalkeeper coach and everything!

Bit of a long shot but has anyone gone to a game at Kings Langley recently. Thinking of travelling down to follow my local team AFC Telford in the FA Trophy (probably foolish given how awful we are) and after recommendations for pubs / any other useful advice. I will be coming down on train with my 12 year old lad.

Apsley is the nearest train station & is given as a 25 minute walk to the ground according to Kings Langley FC. They also state that trains go to Apsley every 30 minutes from Watfrod Junction.

I've never been to the ground, but their rise from playing in the Herts Senior League is one of non-league's sucess stories. It's also going back to the last century when I was last in a pub there, but I'm sure the Rose & Crown can't be as awful as it was then!

Enjoy the day.

I went a few years ago. It is a bit of a walk from Kings Langley train station (Euston line) but there were a couple of pubs on the way that looked like they wouldn't mind a kid. The Rose and Crown was nice, the other was a Miller and Carter steakhouse.

edit: The ground has it's own bar but I don't remember much cover if the weather is crap.

edit II: just seen Terry mention the Rose and Crown

With no more home games until 11th December it is a great opportunity to head to some league, be it a local team or a load of new ones they will appreciate it more than FIFA/PL/"top clubs"

I'm heading to Arlesey Town v Colney Heath this Saturday in the SSML Premier.

edit: fun fact - Dave Kitson is Arlesey Town's Chairman apparently.

Not a good week to try and watch non-league, all my potential games were rained off. Hoping to do one of the following on Saturday though:

Tower Hamlets v Benfleet
or
Frenford v Sporting Bengal
