Transfer Rumours on 13:53 - Aug 11 with 4215 views | Hayesender | If, if ,if we get this lad in to be able to play on Saturday, I'd be inclined to put Ozzy in at left back. I know it wouldn't be ideal, but at least Ozzy plays like he gives a shite, whereas I've never seen someone on the pitch as lethargic as Nico

Transfer Rumours on 13:58 - Aug 11 with 4178 views | Doudou87 | Upgrade on Ozzy thats for sure, seen him play a few times, attacking full back small and pacey. My preference would have been Sterling especially if we could have agreed a future transfer fee after loan. He's physically stronger and more defensively minded, similar build to Armstrong whereas Laird is a little lightweight but posses more of an attacking threat. Still these rumours change every 2 minutes so who knows!

I get what you are saying, but didn't we try Kakay at LB last season, for part of a game? Home to Barnsley I think - didn't go well

I think you may be right, but I don't think I've seen a worse player than Nico since Christer Warren

We have so many left-footed or left-sided players that you would imagine someone other than Nico could slot in for a game or two until Paal recovers.Technically not the most difficult position to play, just stop your opponent from crossing the bloody ball as often as possible. I can't remember which manager expressed great surprise at City paying £50M for Walker, ' the second least important position on the pitch' Naturally he was asked which was the least important, to which he replied 'left back'. We know Beale has a different view on the importance of full backs, but sometimes you just got to plug the hole and hope it don't leak too much until the plumber arrives.

Transfer Rumours on 11:30 - Aug 11 by DannytheR | I realise the manager will have a longish term plan in place, but how many people looking at us this season would conclude that RB was *the* priority position to deal with? There's an awkwardly realistic nightmare scenario here, where we spend whatever money we have on a RB and then Paal (ALREADY injured) is out for any length of time whatever. There is no sane world where the solution to what remains wrong with Rangers is dropping Ossie Kakay and Hamalienen becoming a first team regular. As we all saw this week, that boy is bad enough to be a walking points deduction. I think Sterling can at least play on the left in a Paal-based emergency. Can Laird? If all we're doing now is bringing in a Premiership kid on loan, surely that should be part of the thinking? [Post edited 11 Aug 2022 11:35]

Well if Kakay gets injured we also have no one so do think right back was a position we have to stregthen in and although I like Kakay i'm not sure you want him as your first choice full back in the championship. A Back up left back ,although I'd like a better one, is probably less of a priority unless we can find one in budget, do find it hard to understand why club haven't done something about this in previous windows rather than sign loans and short term deals which are now coming back to bite us

The amount of times Field had to cover him on Tuesday, maybe he could slot in there, but then we lose him from the middle

The poor lads scared to go near the ball because of twonks who need somebody in life to bully. You can see it in his body language. The Fin’s have the best society in Europe on many levels, so I’d say he isn’t used to dealing with constant negativity, instead of encouragement. Equality, fairness and encouragement are some of the backbones of their society- that’s why their education system is the best in Europe and has been for some years. I can’t help but think he reads some of the lazy, easy to throw around to join in comments on here. When he first got into the side there was no negativity around his performances- a couple of bad games, knives came out and he’s been a target and bag of nerves around the ball since. I’m crossing my fingers for him on Saturday cos he did as well as most the other night, even with the added pressure of constant groans.

Given how disliked he is, you probably have a point about Niko being scared. However, some things to point out: He's American, born and raised, but has played for Finland because of his Finnish father. He's been with QPR for over 7 years and has been given a very generous amount of time to develop so he can have no arguments there. He's had four loans out with just the one at Kilmarnock working out okay. The others didn't. He's had more than a couple of bad games. I can only recall a few of the 31 matches he's played for us when I didn't think he was never going to make it at this level. The long contract he was given at QPR has proved to be a poisoned chalice for him because past QPR managers, and the present one, don't rate him but it would appear it's been impossible to sell him on permanently. Sadly for him and QPR, he's with us until 2024 unless he chooses to walk away or some kind of agreement is reached.

I don't disagree, although you could say Uncle could play there in an emergency. (Would have to be a pretty major emergency, granted.) Or Drewe, who is obviously an unknown quantity. The problem is that Hamaleinen is very much a known quantity... Very aware of his limitations and why the club probably decided to let him go, but it is one reason Odubajo was a useful player to have around. For a squad as small as ours, you'd think one player offering cover in two positions would be a bit of a godsend.

I would say that I think he is a truly poor footballer but there are mitigating circumstances the main one being the player he is twinned with down the left wing quite clearly doesn't rate him and will do virtually anything rather than give him the ball. Then throw in the system of 4 3 3 quite often leaves both full backs being overloaded when defending if the wide players don't get into the correct positions. We are going down the route of gambling on signing players with poor medical histories and hoping we are smart enough to keep them fit so this will sometimes mean the back ups will have to play so we better get used to it and support these players

Transfer Rumours on 19:19 - Aug 11 with 2579 views | Lblock | Seen this Laird kid has been confirmed by a Mancky United tw@tter link. There's two places I wouldn't go shopping for players. 1. Is Spurs - Levy will work you over. 2. Is United - players that haven't made it there rarely end up cutting the Colemans elsewhere. They'll be some granted (Nic Powell etc) but there's more Machedas than you can shake a shitty northern stick at That aside...... welcome, good luck etc, etc

How much did we pay for Taarabt from Spurs/Levy? Don’t remember it being much and he’s probably our most important and influential signing of the past 20+ years.

that's probably true, they used to get appearance money to bump up their not so huge weekly pay. Now it is more like a small bonus to some.

that's not really accurate though. If he was any good why didn't any of the clubs he has been to, want to sign him. He was deemed not good enough and sent back early from Botofogo a few months ago. Truth is he is not very good and we gave him a 4 year deal which runs until June 2024 and we will be stuck with him until then.
