Indeed. Funnily enough I had to add 9 minutes to my game - GK injured! Turned on BBC and didn't know how much time was added so I'm going mad, wondering why it wasn't over!

We weren't dreadful, but we were on the defensive for large parts of the game. I thought we missed Johansen's influence.

Coventry v qpr match thread on 17:21 - Jan 22 by Benny_the_Ball | A very significant win against a decent side who have been excellent at home this season. Coventry will feel hard done by but this is what good teams do; win ugly. Honourable mentions to Field for practically holding the midfield together alone, Dickie for some very important interventions in his own box, Willock who is now adding end product to his undoubted skill, and Adomah for continuing to shine in an unfamiliar role. You Rs!!! [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 17:26]

Field was great wasn’t he. I was unsure about him a few weeks ago but he’s looking like one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment. Let’s hope he stays fit.

Coventry v qpr match thread on 17:22 - Jan 22 by traininvain | I’d say it was somewhere in the middle. A real battling performance against a good Coventry team. Willock with two bits of magic to create the goals. We do seem to have found a way to grind out results. The last 15 mins was a real backs to the wall job and we defended superbly. |
Agree. Good teams find a way to win. We were out possessed 58%-42%, out shot 21-7, and Coventry had 7 SOG to our 3. Yet we win, good times.

Well I watched the whole thing on a VPN stream . I saw a confident team who went at us from the first minute with pace and aggression but instead of starting slow as normal we actually scored on the break , soaked up the pressure and finished the half strongly passing as we can . Pulled level with a worldy , a 15 minute break and then go in front again and see the game out . Field was fantastic and Willock virtually unplayable , kicked to the floor a dozen times .the rest of the team with the odd exception were not far behind ... IMO nearly forgot ...all this without Chair and Seny ... and Johanson [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 17:35]

Coventry v qpr match thread on 17:21 - Jan 22 by eastside_r | Thought they had too much pressure but we held on. |
We rode our luck, certainly, but that was a great win. The fact that theirs was a stunner shows that we held out well. Like the game at the KPF, we were clinical, they weren't. Great finish by Gray to start things off, which is good because that was about all that he and Dykes did between them today, but it is THE most vital part of the game, so we'll take that! Nothing Marshall could do about their goal. Thought that they looked a pretty good outfit to be fair. The high energy press certainly disrupted us and we went long ball too much, which really exposed the lack of hold up play of the front two. But that said, there weren't that many clear cut chances that fell their way. Swansea (h), then Reading (h) - that should set up up really, really nicely, but this is QPR and the nice things don't come our way... do they? The other stat worth noting is that we only have six games left against the other 9 teams that sit in the top 10 with us...

Despite the pressure, the stats on the stream I was watching said we had 4 clear cut chances compared to their none. I have no idea how they measure that!

Coventry v qpr match thread on 17:43 - Jan 22 with 2311 views | Greenbay | FT REPORT Well how did we win that? Brilliant. Talk about grinding out a performance. And all in front of a magnificent travelling 4,000 QPR supporters. So this is what dreams are made of. Stunning, sensational - am I getting carried away? Can we snatch an automatic promotion spot? Ok just dreaming. We defended for most of the match. Take a bow our defence - Dickie, Dunne and Barbet. Add Wallace and the outstanding Albert - that's apart from his headed winner 2 minutes from official time - although 16 minutes were added because a steward collapsed. That was just after Coventry had equalised with a magnificent left-footed thunderbolt from the unmarked Shipley on the edge of the box from a precise and excellent Kane corner - 'the Chelsea legend' as NIck London said at the start. We did have first half chances to put this game to bed. Gray from such an acute angle gave us the lead after 6 minutes. But then - apart from some 'ball possession' for the last 10 minutes of that half - we were overun in midfield. If Coventry had their shooting boots on we could have been in serious trouble. After Shipley's fantastic goal just 5 mins after HT we could only expect the worst. After the delay - on and on it went - as we absorbed the pressure. But in a 9 minute spell midway through the half Warbs replaced Dozzell, Gray and Dykes for Amos, Thomas and Charlie. Don't forget - add on the extra 16 minutes. That steaded our midfield - just a bit. And Thomas was impressive with his speed and his desire. He's so eager. Yes he made mistakes against his former club. But there is a player there if he can get a run of games. Then Willock, so creative as usual (I hope we keep him) delivered - for the second successive week - a sublime cross into the box and there was Albert to head home. Delerium - unbelievable. We did it again. And all this without Jojo - suffering from a minor knock. What a great team effort. Four successive Championship wins - 5 successive wins if you count the FA Cup victory. Seven victories in our last nine league matches. Or W8, D1, L2 from our last 11 Championship games. So we cement our fourth place. We're just two behind second placed Bournemouth (lost 1-0 at home to Hull) and Blackburn and we have a game in hand on both. And we are now 5 points clear of 7th placed Middlesbrough - that's if you still have the play-offs in mind. Onto Swansea at home on Tuesday - then Reading again at home next Saturday. Can't wait. What a glorious season we are having. [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 18:58]

Coventry v qpr match thread on 17:43 - Jan 22 with 2289 views | karlski | Lovely assists from Willock, superb battling from all, great defensive effort and no doubt there is a positive in winning away without playing well. But they absolutely battered us, and were by far the superior outfit with the ball - yet we got the win by being clinical. I’m confounded by the whole thing. I think two strikers leaves us way too open in midfield, and for whatever reason the two strikers didn’t do much (aside from clinical Gray finish, which is the most important thing you can do as a striker!). As I said, confounding, but I’ll take it : ) this team has heart, fight, and is producing goals at crucial moments. Onwards we go!

Albert MOTM surely. Scores the winner then provides a brilliant block to keep them out. Probably the two key moments to us winning. [Post edited 22 Jan 2022 18:13]

Field was superb. Throughout. But Willock will get MOM for 2 assists and standing up to the treatment he got from O'Hare, Hamer, Mc Fadzean.

Think he was solid but not much more than that. We were completely over-run in midfield in the second half and were really kept in it by the defence.

Coventry v qpr match thread on 18:00 - Jan 22 with 1862 views | Stainrod | Think if you look at the bench you see why the manager wants re-enforcements. Other than Charlie (massive asset) it doesn't contain a match winner. Thomas is a trier and Amos is tidy but neither are going to turn a match. Again that depended on the brilliance of Willock to set up Albert (who was my MotM). Imagine if we cd get someone like Lawrence - the options that would give us. Think that would transform us from being the kind of team that has to hang on against Coventry to actually kicking on and saying "we could win this by a few".
