Crypto/NFT/Football 18:00 - Dec 16 with 6652 viewstoboboly

Following on from QPR's move into a highly unregulated and possibly corrupt area of finance today there is news that Bradford City in L2 are apparently going to be taken over by some crypto twts in the USA and that a UK crypto twt has taken over Bedford FC (step 6 non-league) and reckons he will get it into the Premier League.

The authorities need to start getting a grip on ownership and the future of football in this country.

And when it doesnt work out these people will toss the football clubs aside as if it or the supporters never existed

12 hours on from my reasonable query to the club and Quidd, no response from either,

Bedford Town is a local club to me. Tom Hitchcock played for them until this season.

Love to know how this works with P&S or FFP or whatever it is called, when he gets the club high enough to be involved in that.

The chairman of Bradford released a statement today saying that he received an emailed offer for the club from them yesterday and hasn't done anything about it. Sounds like their claims of being on the verge of a takeover might be a little bit far-fetched for now......thankfully

Strange how that article doesn't use the words crypto, NFT or anything similar.
It's almost as if they're hiding something.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

I read this bit in the Guardian about people being mugged for their Crypto in the City, and for some reason, a former poster on this site immediately popped into my head:

“A third victim said he had been vomiting under a bridge when a mugger forced him to unlock his phone using a fingerprint, then changed his security settings and stole £28,700, including cryptocurrency.”

I expect he was “seven cans into a barbecue” at that point.

So half a season of Crawley ownership and they've sold their best player, put the whole squad up for sale and are looking for their 4th manager of the season already, the last one lasting 32 days. Going about as well as expected.

Since 2008 Banks have been fined more than $320 billion so which is the “the corrupt part of finance” as OP says

Crypto on chain is not regulated. But the industry remains a highly regulated area. Certainly around the centralised exchanges. So the fiat on and off ramps are highly regulated. Follow same rules as banking sector on customer funds.

But there has been bad actors who have committed crimes. The biggest criminal, SBF, currently under house arrest and his number two has taken a plea deal to defer her 135 years of prison time and grassed him up for stealing $8 billion of customer funds. She's a real hotty though look her up... Caroline Ellison. So you can understand why he tried to impress her.

Just so happens to be that SBF is the second biggest donor to the Democrat party behind only George Soros. hence the New York Times, Washington Post and BBC puff pieces about one of the biggest thief's of all times.

Anyone buying Bitcoin and Ethereum on his exchange instead had their money given to Biden, stadium naming rights, or to buy his own sh* t tokens. Probably what prevented the blow off top and prevented me making as much dosh as I would have liked to.
Crypto has long moved from the “then they ignore you”, moving out of the then they laugh at you stage and this next cycle will probably be the then they fight you stage so who knows what happen. But I’ve been buying again lately and plan to these next 4-6 months. Will see in 3-5 years if I am wrong.

But I definitely don’t get the point of this thread. or articles like that. There are north of 300 million people who own crypto. Toboboly wants none of them to be allowed to buy a club because… not sure…

Some people who made money have bought a club and some of those have been successful. Real Bedford FC. Top of the league. Played 21. Won 19.

Crawley not doing so well. But Gillingham are bottom of that same league. Their owners made their money in Photocopiers and Property… Are we to ban all those who have ever even used a photocopier or stayed I a house from owning a football club? Same logic

Dam those "photocopier bros"

And laugh at those crypto bro's. Deep in this bear market Bitcoin is only up 2.5x the value and Ethereum is only 12x the value it was when being talked about on the Covid thread

How wrong they were to say inflation was coming... these sound money currencies might be a good idea...

It's quite a wild ride in the world of football and finance, isn't it? With QPR venturing into the unregulated and potentially shady crypto territory, and now news about Bradford City and Bedford FC being taken over by crypto enthusiasts, it's raising eyebrows and sparking discussions.

At the end of the day you'll have to convert crypto into currency and there are only a few exchanges like Coinbase around. The regulators could easily get involved, declare the whole thing illegal. And there's the CBDC to consider.Bank of England is already having "discussions" about a digital Pound.
