The North Koreans may be able to muster more men, but the US with the and South Korea have access to some of the worlds best technology and weaponry and far superior air power which would cause infantry significant issues.
It didn't do the US much good in Afghanistan. The us presence would be a delaying tactic that's all.N Korea has an awesome military, they have huge resources. N Korea has technology, They have nukes btw. N K has some excellent aircraft, many Russian migs and Sukhois, which are every bit as good as the US has.

30k, is nothing to what the N Koreans can muster. It's been estimated that they could be overrun in about 3 hours
The Taliban, didn't have to go near Kabul or anywhere else, they just waited. The US has the equipment and resources, we have the time. Guess which prevailed?
Who estimated that? Got a link?
The Taliban didn't go near any large city or town because of the artillery and air support. They waited because they had to. The waiting only prevailled really because the USA withdrew had they decided to stay then the Taliban would still be hiding in the mountaisn and in Pakistan.

I would suggest after 4 years of evidence, he would certainly have gone about this better. His record in foreign affairs is exemplary and it would be completely inaccurate to claim otherwise.
Well, we will never know. But independent experts are pointing the finger at both Biden and Trump. It's a mess either way.

The PRK Air Force is largely outdated and reliant on a lot of MIG-17 and MIG-21 (mainly Chinese made) and a force of around 60 MIG-29s. South Korea has a large force of F-16s which would really be pretty equivalent to the MIG-29 (arguably better weaponry) plus a number of US squadrons of F-16 and A10 attack planes. Neither have latest generation fighters, though of course the US could mobilise F35s from carriers. PRK lack the best Russian planes (SU27/34 series) and have a small force of Sukhoi Frogfoot attack planes.
PRK has a larger standing army, but the South is over 300,000 active personnel and 2 million reservists. As you may remember even tke likes of Ki and Son still have to go for summer excercises.

All that Prof and not to forget that the USA has nukes too.
Hey Contro, they have a lot more nukes than North Korea.
In a conventional war the US and South Koreans would roll up North Korea fairly easily. It's only the nukes and any potential Chinese involvement (just like last time) that complicate things.
The South Koreans aren't all that interested in reunification anyway. It'd make the costs West Germany took on in 1990 to bring the East up to standard look like a minor investment.

N k Has 700 fighters, all of varying ability, but the workhorses are the mig 21s, they also have 80 bombers. Migs are much lighter and manoeuvrable than the equivalent and would get the better in close combat
They have more than enough to overcome the opposition. It could certainly defend itself too. It's war strategy is to defend itself against the US, but it could certainly use much of it's military to attack

The American air to air missiles systems would mean the Migs wouldn’t get anywhere near them.
Let’s hope it never comes to the situation where the use of a military force is required.

Yep. "Close combat" is the last thing US Fighter planes get into these days. Most try to splash the opposition from at least 40-50 miles away.
Top Gun was not a documentary.

All be done by ‘over the horizon’ missiles. F16 is also highly manoeuvrable. South Korea also has large number of F5s-the plane used as aggressors in US training due to similarities to MIG in combat. If PRK has SU-27/34s they would be a bit more combative. They totally dominated MIG29s in the Ethiopian-Eritrean wars

In a mountainous terrain like Korea? You are correct, Sukhois are the world's best fighter aircraft bar none

AWACS typically operate around 30,000 feet. Ain't no mountains in Korea high enough for any fighters to hide in. The American fighters would know they were there before the NKors did.

MIG 21's are considered obsolete, they would not get near enough to get the better of the USA's latest fighters. NK has 950 aircraft including helicopters and bombers.
An assessment by US analysts GlobalSecurity.org reported that the air force "has a marginal capability for defending North Korean airspace and a limited ability to conduct air operations against South Korea"
Those bombers, Harbin H-5 "Beagle" bombers are considered obsolete too..
NK's greatest defence against air attack is their extremely dense anti aircraft network.

PS - thanks to Google for that info

Yeah, those 1950s Chinese-licensed Soviet Fighter and bombers. Pretty equivalent to the RAF still flying Canberras as front line bombers and Hunters and English Electric Lightnings as our fighter force. PRKs missile capability is actually quite small too. As they are set up as big army not a guerrilla type force like the Vietcong SIS or Taliban, the chances of overcoming the South are low.

Perhaps in close combat. US will bring in F22s and F35s. SU27/34s would not even know they had been targeted. Not that PRK have any.
Of course they would. Sukhois are as advanced as any aircraft. The flanker aircraft regularly defeat the opposition in simulations. I'm not sure if they have any though.
The bulk of North Korea's mechanized and tank units are positioned to cross the DMZ at a moment's notice and run over the US and South Korean defenders. The attackers will be aided by SU-25 attack planes and attack helicopters. In addition, North Korea has 600 high-speed landing crafts, 140 hovercrafts, and 3,000 K-60 and other pontoon bridges for river-crossing. North Korea has 700,000 troops, 8,000 heavy guns, and 2,000 tanks placed in more than 4,000 hardened bunkers within 150 km of the DMZ.

But they don’t have any Flankers!
SU25s will get wiped out quickly as a good plane (success in Afghanistan) but lacks the armour of the A10. South has 300,000 standing army and close to 2 million reservists. Hence PRK investment in missiles. Can’t win a conventional war.

Sukhois are flankers and they do have them. My car can travel quicker than those A10s

The latest info says they have 34 SU 25's which is nowhere near enough for the size of the force they'd take on and then there's the anti aircraft missile response.
What car have you got, a ThrustSSC? A 10's do over 700 Km/H.
ALl those troops, tanks, missiles etc, they are no good in those hardened bunkers and as soon as they started coming out they would be very vulnerable. In fact if there wan attack by the NK armed forces, it wouldn't just be troops and planes they'd have to contend with,

The US fleet permanently stationed in Japan has 14 ships equipped with cruise missiles. North Korea would be battered.
Their only hope would be China.
Us intelligence about N k is very limited. there are no US insiders in NK. They don't know where the bunkers are and there are many dummy ones too.
We need to get past this mentality of the US has everything and the rest are all banana republics. NK is a different proposition to Iraq or Afghanistan.
