This will be my 43rd season ..
So many up and downs ...

How many years and memories of special and maybe not days following the Swans.

Kidderminster on a boxing buy Chinese at the ground with a couple of smuggled cans to wash it down .

Best days Preston and Wembley v Reading

Working in Singapore watching the Swans beat Cardiff in the cup night game after restrictions were relaxed

43rd for me yet sporadic.

From the first memories of waiting for my uncle to pick me up from my house in plasmarl in 1978 to taking my eldest, who was born and brought up in lancashire to some of the home games and alot of aways, the love of watching my beloved swans has without doubt got stronger, I put that totally down to age, as you get older you start to realise what life is all about and alot of mine is devoted to the swans.

Can't wait for the season no matter who is in charge, not bothered if we win ot lose all that matters is meeting fellow jack bastards from all corners of the British Isles, having a few, sorry alot of beers, chewing the cud having a right good laugh, can't wait.

Similar amount of time for me. Some of the highs 1 nil win at Hereford on a boxing day with the ground full swans fans causing kick off to be delayed with a D Penny goal to settle it. Losing 7 nil at Fulham was one of many lows. Still don't get two team thing but there we are.

Not as loyal as you guys. First match vs Halifax(I think)in 76/77. Watched the team through the decades but not as regular as most due to deployments away. Returned 2011, started loving it again but lost all interest/faith once the club was sold to the yanks. Not renewed since and probably never will again, will always love the club but won't put anymore money into it...sad, but hey ho.

First taken to watch Swansea Town. Didn’t see first goal as I couldn’t bear to watch a penalty. I didn’t get taken to every game but stopped in the Harry Gregg era. Started going on my own just after Harry Griffiths took over.

When I was younger went everywhere from places like the recreation ground in aldershot, the Shay in Halifax, the priestfield stadium in Gillingham and Feethams in Darlington to the biggest grounds in the country. Overnight trips to the northeast and evenings in Blackpool from the northwest. Marriage put paid to that 😊

Never a dull moment watching the Swans, rarely do things the easy way. Only time I’ve really relaxed in a big game was the Capital One cup win over Bradford. Even we couldn’t mess that one up after they were down to 10 men.

Over 40 years for me - fell in love with the club as a very young lad taken to games by my father and to the Vetch on a Sunday by my grandfather Wilf Merriman who ran the Harry Griffiths bar for many years.

In all of that time, the highest and the lowest feelings came just a few weeks apart - the lowest being that defeat my Bristol Rovers (Boxing Day I think) followed by our miraculously recovery from the New Year onwards climaxing in THAT win over Hull.

One of these days I'll get round to adding the Vetch Field Memories stuff I've got onto the ATFV website...!

56 years for me started off with a 2-5 defeat to Leyton Orient.

The highlights.

Beating Chesterfield to win Promotion
Hull to avoid relegation
Preston an Reading obviously.

Disappointments, to many to mention

Let's hope we can get back to some entertaining football this season

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Around 35 - 40 for me.

Favourite memory Valencia away, victories over the Basseys & away days in mid / late 80's & early 90's we might have been crap but boy did I have some fun with the boys.

45 years. My first ever game was at home VS Bradford when the match was abandoned due to either fog or floodlight failure. My dad took me (he'd previously wanted to take me to Cardiff away but thankfully thought better of it!) and I remember sitting in the centre stand with a flask of hot tea snacks. I was almost an ever present (apart from a couple of seasons around 13 or 14 when we’d just been relegated from the top flight when I’d found music and girls).

Edit - I’ve probably asked this before but I seem to remember that Bradford game being abandoned but can find no record of it - only a 2-3 away win for them. Perhaps my dad was shielding me from the defeat by pretending it was being abandoned or it was abandoned and that was the rescheduled game? The 2-3 game was on Tuesday March 1st 1977 (the game that cost us promotion that year eventually missing out to Bradford by a single point 😿) . If ANYONE could give me the date of the original abandoned game I’d have my first ever Swans match date - I feel incomplete without it.
Sadly Dad passed away in February so I’ve no one else to ask 😔.

56-57 for me I was a reluctant fan early on, dragged in by mates, so never took interest, first memory is Ivors first match back, so it looks like his return lit the flame.

Too many highs and lows , few of us have seen it all , the good and bad.

So many return journeys on buses with no heating in the middle of winter.
someone setting fire to the car park attendants hut in shrewsbury, and having a police escort out, oh dear!

I think the tops was our first visit to Wembley , was always a pipe dream to see the Swans play there, probably more than being in the top division.

A few tales to tell as some of us now, to the lone Ranger .....I saw the girls brother the other week, he hasnt changed ,

38 years for me. First game was home v Notts County in 83. Goals by Bob Latchford and Darren Gale but don't remember a lot else. Can't wait to get to the Liberty again as weekends spent in Swansea are a great way to spend time.

Swansea v Hartlepool 1968.
In the double decker.
Mum knitted me a scarf to go.
Continental cafe for lunch.
I was hooked thereafter.
My Dad was a big Swans fan.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

57 years since being taken to my first game down the Vetch.

I reckon that makes me equal second alongside Raynor so far in terms of seniority, just behind Mr Glow

I feel that entitles us three to two votes each in all future opinion polls on this site compared to all the others who have less experience.

My father started taking me in 72, I was a few months short of my 5th birthday and have no idea who we played or the actual date. I do remember being very bored by half time and nagging him to go home, We used to stand on the West terrace with two uncles, one now deceased.
He started taking me because my parents were splitting up. By the time I was 6 they were divorced. It was several years before I became properly addicted.
I have a false memory probably caused by Beer! I remember it that on my 18th birthday we drew with Bristol to stay up, they announced my birthday over the tannoy and I went to the pub and saw the Bradford disaster on the news. However, my birthday is the 11th and we played Bristol on the 17th. That's what beer does eh! I don't have a great memory at the best of times. I remeber games but not the date or even the year without looking it up. I'll call it B.A.M, Beer affected memory.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Bradford game, roughly what year? as 2 I remember one was a floodlight failure , the biggest memory is the Generator blowing up and catching fire , but that was in the 70s so I would opt for the lights going out.
