And for me I’ve clicked another year! And 10 years ago today many of us complete with a hole range Of inflatables travelled to the principality of Wales to watch St Adel of West London put the Welsh Dragon to the sword. They choked and we celebrated in the car park afterwards waiting to be released. And like today it was a gloriously warm sunny day.

But it's ok if you are Welsh, Scottish or Irish to be proud of your country without having a label put upon you?
It's a sad state that some feel this way and perhaps view the proud English as being far right extremist for some reason!?
Sign of the times I guess, sadly I doubt we will be allowed to call ourselves English within the next 20 years.
You can’t call yourself English now. Literally just saw a bloke arrested for singing the National anthem before tucking into some pie and mash. I blame ‘they’. Can’t do anything these days since they said you couldn’t.

This is the problem though, 'they' could be anyone i.e. the left, liberals and list goes on.
It seem's this is only aimed at the English as I cannot think of another country where this label seems to stick?
Sad f*cking times if you are meant to feel ashamed or embarrassed of being English.

It needs reclaiming to be honest or this will get worse and worse. We have the ludicrous situation where we celebrate St Patricks day for instance more than we celebrate today in England. It's a bit bizarre.

And St. Patrick was Welsh!

It will continue to be ignored until it rightly becomes a bank holiday.I’d quite happily change the May Day bank holiday to St. George’s day in England, because they would never allow 2 bank holidays within 2 weeks. And possibly 4 in 3/4 weeks if Easter falls right.

I blame the Turkish then as that's where St George was allegedly from.
His mother was Palestinian and his father was a Greek Palestinian. He was born in Turkey.Sounds like a typical Englishman because he was a bit of a mixture.

Not religious but this should be a Bank Holiday in England. I see nothing wrong with celebrating being English. We can be patriotic without being nationalist.
One of the great things about Euro 96 is we the people of England reclaimed back the English flag off the fascist scum.
It is especially a proud moment when people of different ethnic backgrounds also wear the England shirt and wave the wonderful England flag. Don't let the fascist scum take it away from us again.
