Birmingham City v Swansea City : Matchday Thread : AFTERMATH 02:42 - Mar 31 with 17008 viewsNotLoyal

Friday 2nd April 2021
Once again the swans travel to a club inspired by a new manager in Lee Boyer, alol the signs are there for Steve Cooper as we return to the EFL Championship on Friday evening, LIVE on SKY TV.

I’m back ya baddas, thanks for the thanks.

Birmingham City v Swansea City
St Andrews
Kick off 8pm
EFL Championship

Match Officials
TONY HARRINGTON
Shaun Hudson and Jonathan Hunt
Fourth Official : Joshua Smith

Other games to be aware of on Good Friday
Huddersfield Town v Nosey Little Brentford (12:30)
Watford v Sheffield Wednesday (15:00)
Preston North End v Norwich City (15:00)
Barnsley v Reading (17:30)

Team News
Birmingham City have question marks over the availability of Scott Hogan and Ivan Sanchez for the Good Friday appointment with Swansea City. Head coach Lee Bowyer has revealed both have had injections to address issues they have been managing for several weeks. Sanchez has been labouring with a hernia and has missed time training, while Hogan has been playing with a back problem — but will train on Wednesday. Blues face third-placed Swansea at St Andrew’s on Friday evening in a televised encounter with a side looking to resuscitate their hopes of an automatic promotion place.

Andre Ayew and Conor Hourihane will continue to be assessed ahead of Swansea City's Championship clash with Birmingham City. Ayew suffered a knock late on while playing for Ghana during the international break after Hourihane was withdrawn in the early stages of Swansea's defeat to Cardiff City with a hamstring issue. Steve Cooper has confirmed the pair have not trained ahead of Friday's trip to the Midlands, although they will be given the chance to prove their fitness for the clash with Lee Bowyer's side. "Andre’s back and everyone knows he had a bit of a knock," said the head coach. "Conor Hourihane came off against Cardiff so those two players have got a chance of playing but they’re not training at the moment. "We’ll see how it goes by the time Friday comes.

Swansea Independent view
Ayew and Hourihane will be subs on Friday with Lowe and Whittaker up front, Lowe playing a wider role.

Sadly I have to agree with you Max, the wheels have come off, and after being in such a promising position.

Tonight was pathetic, worst I've seen us in a long time and that's with plenty runners up to this debacle Rayn's

Mulder was quality until Potter dropped him. Confidence went after that.

That’s ok then, let him off the rest of the season because he was feeling a bit fragile.

It’s very much a non issue anyway and I shouldn’t have taken Dwight bait.

Andy Cole, replicate performances to date you said, well replicate the last 3 months and how many points will we end up with?

Go into the play offs in that form and we'll get whipped.

We don't look like scoring, I doubt we'd get close if their keeper went to sleep in the back of the net. We can't pass 10 yards to feet any more. Worst of all, it was clear from 20 minutes in we needed to change something and Cooper waits until 3minutes from the end AND with 1 minute left on the extra time clock to make changes.

No wonder Cooper is apparently desperate for a bumper contract now, in a few weeks the board could be discussing sacking him. Right now I'm hoping another club comes in with a good offer for him.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

If he were to be offered a new contract I would simply turn my back on the club after 60 plus years.

I didn’t either, but I can see why he gave it. Dhanda slipped and did clip the guy.

I don’t think it actually makes that much difference, with Watford winning earlier, a draw wouldn’t have been much use. No idea why we didn’t go for it late on.

one point could mean a lot come the end of season, the way we're playing 1 point is all we may get.

Clubs on the edge of the play offs that watched that garbage tonight, will have hope of scraping into the play offs at our expense, and I wouldn't blame them.

Just like Cooper 'stumbled' into this 5 at the back malarkey he needs to stumble out of it sharpish. It's worked well for us until recently but other sides have worked us out now, and we desperately need a change to freshen things up.

I f*ckin hate playing without wingers anyway.

It’s awful when you half want your team to lose every game from now on just to rid the club of him.

Ok I’ve been banging on about him for months and got pelterrs for doing so but I only care for the club. I feel very upset right now.

Well yeah it could, I doubt it will though.

Even if it does, that’s not the point. Cooper shouldn’t have been happy with a draw. He should have been going for it the last 20 minutes or so, not bringing Routledge on with 3 minutes left and Whittaker after we’d lost the game. Whittaker should have had 20/30 minutes.

As Lee Bowyer just said, Swansea haven't changed their shape all season, so we had 2 weeks to work on our plan!!

I bucked a personal trend tonight and watched Coopers interview. He said he wasn't happy with the first half and could see we were poor.

That being the case why did he wait so long to change it? Maybe because he's clueless and doesn't know what to do?

No decent manager will wait til 3 minutes from the end to make changes in a game like that, surely? Not unless they'd be happy with the draw but should the fans be happy that our manager seems happy to limp across the line and stands around doing nothing.

What are we doing in training, taking mindfullness lessons?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

He can say that, but it still took a debatable penalty to beat us, so he can't really base what he said on how they beat us, I've no complaints about either penalty either, we've been on the right end of those decisions more than we haven't recently so no complaints.

We were absolutely shocking though, throughout the 90+ minutes, like a bunch of strangers chucked together and told to get on the field and crack on, then again, we might have made a better fist of the job if we had just walked in from the street and took to the field.

We can blame Cooper and I do for the most part, but where the fuk were the leaders and the Captain on the field, Grimes is not a Captain for me, give it to Ayew or Bennett and let Grimes concentrate on his game.

Cooper is totally to blame as he has coached skill and confidence out of the team.

Just look at our front two, both are one footed, lowe looked embarrassing trying a shot with his stronger right foot when he should be using his left.

I was taught, even though it was rugby, that you fine honed your strengths and worked hard on improving your weaknesses.

Cooper obviously doesn't do alot of decent coaching does he.

I don't disagree, but as a young buck I was taught to kick a ball against a wall and use alternative feet to return it to said wall, when I did eventually play I always felt confident using either foot, even though I felt more comfortable using my right foot.

No pro footballer should only be able to use one foot.
No decent amateur should only be able to use one foot.
Yet we have at least 5 that I can think of who can only kick with one foot.
It's pathetic.
