This is me first time, so be gentle.

So hard to call this, our confidence must be sky high after Wednesday, but there no mugs and can see this being quite a terse battle, hopefully a 1-0 win to us but does have a draw looking feel about the game.

Our starting line up for the last two games hasn’t created any chances in the first hour.
When bonne came on he had the more creative players already on around him.

Fair point,

But also another factor was that B'mouth had pushed way up the field at that stage as they were chasing the game. There was very little space at 0-0 for Austin and Dykes.

WOW, another great result. No standout performances from what I saw but a great effort from everyone.

We seem to have got over that thing of starting well and then running out of ideas. We're managing the game really well over 90mins.

Very happy, well done Rangers!!!

Winning playing well below our level, wonderful stuff

Also maybe the twitter melts who want to whip Charlie Austin through 90 minutes 3 times a week can pipe down now!

The Cherries were pushing up to equalize, leaving a lot more space than earlier in the match. This, plus having players like Willock and Fields on the pitch, made a big difference. Bonne should have scored at least 1 probably 2. I am really not giving him many props for getting shots off because in my opinion it had more to do with the game situation than anything else. The fact that he couldn't finish any of them is concerning.

Have to agree.
He missed three big chances.
Put it this way - do we think he'll be happy? Probably unlikely.

There was a shot of Him at the end walking past Warburton. Bonne looked gutted. Warbs tried to gee him up but he just strolled over to the dugout.

Last game before lockdown, if I recall. Won with 10 men.

My brain had obviously wiped that. I always associate Preston with a team we lose to.

A win there would be huge

Agree with this and the post you are replying to BUT I do get the impression that he knows he is not 1st choice starter and hasn't been all season, and is putting himself about plenty when he gets on as he's desperate to score (maybe a bit too desperate).

Whereas I'm afraid that while I hope for the best for Dykes it feels like his confidence is low and although he knows he's a regular starter he must know we bought in Charlie because he's not scoring.

I wouldn't be against swapping them around and seeing how that works, I don't think we've a lot to lose tbh so long as it's made clear to Dykes that he's still in the frame

Inclined to agree re Bonne and Dykes now we're into February. Bonne has a hardly heroic 3 goals in 24 appearances for us since he came (albeit many from the bench) , but that's still two more than Dykes from open play from a smilar number of games, and the latter has also been a starter. There were early signs of a rapport between him and Charlie at Luton, but it appears they haven't been sustained for some reason, disappointingly. The consolation/compensation is that the likes of Albert, Johansen, Field and even Kane have been chipping in very helpfully indeed, which is all very good to see, and reinforces the sense of this team really starting to gel, even if we lacked some quality and creativity today for long spells and our win was a product as much of the opponent's failings as our own architectonic. But we look in a far better place than January, and the whole club takes credit for that.

The thing is if you they look tired tonight and it’s just the start. We’re going to need every morsel we have in the coming months. Thankfully we have some points on the board now.

I felt earlier in the season that that we were better than our league position was showing. 13th is fairly good reflection of our season so far for me.

I agree. Bonne's playing flat out. He's not getting the results he's probably used to, or hoped for, but he's creating space and opportunities for others. Dyke needs a break, he's just digging himself a bigger hole to crawl into with every match. Maybe this level is a step too far for him, or the expectations of being a £2 million player are inside his head.

Give him a start ahead of Dykes on Wednesday then.

If Dykes has anything about him, a little break from starting might actually do some good, we can but hope.
It might also give Bonne a lift.

We HAVE to try something different with them both, 'cos not a lot else seems to be working...

If not Bonne, then Willock or Adomah from the start a must on Wednesday.

Can we go out yet?

I don't have a problem with it, we are winning games. Had we done what you wanted, we may have lost the lot. That we will never know though.

Couldn't watch today but Dykes is a little bit of an odd one, he was struggling badly for, I assume, confidence when Charlie joined and they definitely clicked in the Luton game.
I thought that would be a corner turned but since he's come back in after the isolation he seems to have lost that edge again and it's odd because we're winning games and there's great team spirit, there's something not quite right with the situation and I think there's something else?
I'm convinced that MW sticks with him because he does seem very loyal to players, helps enormously keeping the players on his side, and he offers a very good defensive option at set pieces and with his willingness to work back effectively.
Still think Dykes and Bonne are vital part of the squad and responsible for the good run, I think Dykes getting a few assists and Bonne a goal or two will lift them and improve the team another few %.

Exactly Karl. Well put. Maybe Dykes feels his best chance of progressing his career is with Scotland?

Just conjecture on my part of course but I find it odd too.

Also it can’t be an easy time for people to move to London. Might be a factor. 🤷‍♂️

Most of our other signings have been from closer to home so maybe easier to settle.

It's an odd one with Dykes. We've won 6 out of 7 yet he's not been particularly effective in any game bar Luton. Don't think you can drop him while we're winning really.

Could be Clive, obviously I've no idea but does seem odd.
I do understand people saying he's not adding enough at this moment but it's absolutely not true to say he is useless fullstop, if we'd tried to sell him straight after the Scotland qualifiers we'd have probably doubled our money?
To help him settle in at Queen of the South the manager moved him into his house, result was a brilliant partnership with Stephen Dobbie, he shagged his wife, kicked out of his house and got sacked for knocking the door in! Think Warby might be safer just plugging away with him in the team😂

Two words.

1. Ned

2. Zelic

Though in Dykes' case you've got to wonder if he has any idea of what West London is like since it's been locked down the whole time.

Great post daveman its time to switch the strikers up and with a bunch of games its actually necessary IMO.
Leave Charlie on the bench until at least half time and if the chances come when the game stretches he will have a field day with his ability and experience .
Bonne needed a little more composure but that only comes with playing time .
We look pretty solid from the back just need to keep the goals coming 2 a game is a nice ratio COYRs
