Luton Vans - Match Thread 10:22 - Jan 11 with 60846 viewsCFW

Never had the confidence to start a match thread, going early and hoping first time lucky!!

The obvious questions - will Charlie start? will he be used as an impact sub and can we keep a clean sheet? I really, really hope and pray that bringing him back works out for both sides. There are two Charlie Austins - the one we took on, burning desire to do well, worked very hard for the team, played on even though he was in a lot of pain and gave everything to every game. The other, unfortunately, (if you read and believe the reports) is someone who lost his desire, had his head turned, went off the rails, put on a load of timber and is not, and will never be the same man or player he was in the past. Could go either way, but I hope for both the club and his sake it goes well for him and I wish him all the very best of luck.

I am going for a 1-2 win - and after being awarded a penalty Charlie picks up the ball and gives it to Dykes who slams it into the back of the net to win us the match. They embrace and it is the start of a beautiful partnership.

Nah it’s not that, he’s a handy technical player

it’s that by bringing it into his left, he lost the passing option and reduced the angle of his shooting option

I agree with that too, spot on.

Austin being here might be good for Bonne.

Especially if it keeps him off the pitch!

Chair was growing in influence.... why was he taken off?

We need ball retainers

Adomah experience will be valuable in a match like today..... but why take off chair?

Good pressing by Bonne forces Sluga O'Toole into a rushed gk. Our possession.

I thought he was off his game tonight, d. Quite a few attacks died on his boots.

You’re right mate

Still don’t like taking off someone who can keep the ball and spring a counter

Hugely important 15 mins in the season.
Get the win and the bounce from Charlie joining is huge, lose the 3pts from here and it looks like its only him that can bring home the points. Truth is we've played very well for 40 mins as a complete team but he was critical to it, the rest of the team gave to bring this home

I'd like to see BOS get into the game a bit more this half. Nowhere to be seen at the moment.

I don’t understand how a team that can possess the ball so well in the first halves of matches is so much worse at doing so in the second half

Exactly. It’s ridiculous. Dominated the first. Played well. 2 up would have been fair. Second half abd we look panicked and fragile. But it’s almost every bloody game. Regardless of opposition or personnel.

How do we make ourselves more defensively sound with the one sub we have left? Think we need to do something to make us harder to break down
