QPR Runners - Run the 92 by slmrstid 9 Sep 2020 13:44
One for the runners out there...

I know the QPR Runners Facebook group has had some coverage on here before.

Starting this Saturday, to coincide with the start of a new football season, we're starting a virtual running challenge as a group to cover the mileage required to "visit" all 92 Football League grounds in England and Wales, as we're not allowed to attend real football matches still.

The overall distance needed to cover is 2,227 miles (or 3,586km). We've even got pretty maps that show a route, starting and finishing of course from the KPF.

As part of it, hoping to raise a few quid for the QPR in the Community Trust, although it isn't compulsory, is just a nice challenge for QPR fans with an interest in running to take part in and see how long it takes us as a group to cover that mileage!

Whether you can run a mile, or 100 miles, you are welcome to take part. Find the "QPR Runners" group on Facebook for the full information on what we are doing if you are interested [smile]

A run for us usually means unexpectedly winning a game we shouldn't immediately followed by losing one we should win. Coventry play their football in a very similar way to us. Lots of attack, passing and shots. Not so good at the back like us but this will be a very tough test. They play nice football. 2-2.

I have the same feeling I had for Plymouth odds, but FOR us this time.

2/1 - a shade bigger if you shop around - seems big to me

I'll go for 2-1 us

2-1 to Rangers.

A Dyke's brace. (Should that have an apostrophe or not?)

I think a dyke's brace would be if Sue Perkins scored two.

We haven't mentioned Sue Perkins for a while so quite pleased to get that one in.

Did I mention that I shared an Aer Lingus flight with Sue Perkins? Big day for both of us.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Mate - she was in front of us when we were getting on the plane and completely disappeared on the flight - I was keeping an eye out for her. It’s a mystery.

Shared a flight from Corfu last year with Zammo. Get me.

Just your family and Sue Perkins on that flight? That's an impressive social distancing policy Aer Lingus are operating there, but surely it must affect their profitability? Or did the tickets cost £12k each?

Back on topic, this feels to me like one of those situations where hope appears in front of you for a fleeting moment, then disappears like a desert mirage. However, I am going to be positive and say we'll get a 1-1 draw, thereby doubling our unbeaten run

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

NURSE!!!!

As Clive implies in his preview, they are not a bad team at all. Yes they lost to Bristol C last week, but they dominated a fair bit of the game. Yes, they came up from a lower league and hadn't played for a while 'til Saturday, but they just kept on winning at the end of the season. Yes, they are not in their own stadium, but they've been at St. A's a while and know it well.

I think that this will be a much harder game that many think; I'll be happy with a point to be honest...

Team?
Guesswork on my part...

Lummers

Ozzie K
Scotsman
Dickie Doo
Barrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbet

Wee Tommy C
Big Mean Not so Fast Geoff C

Will he stay or will he go?
The new no pressure no. 10
Lightweight Lookie (sorry!)

Can we go out yet?

Yup, I think a lot of older fans will see this as one of those ‘seen it all before’ games, win a game we expected to lose then immediately follow it up by losing a game you hope to get something out of.

Had a feeling we might get something off forest as I thought they’d still have a hangover from their appalling end to last season. We played them at the perfect time.

Let’s see how we get on tonight when presumably we will face our first shots on target of the new season.
