Carabao Cup - match thread 12:30 09:57 - Sep 4 with 26102 viewsderbyhoop

12:30 kick off, I've been told.

Am I the only one struggling to get excited about this. Suspect not.

Warbs, in interview, wanted to focus on the start of the league programme, so I'm expecting a scratch team and a typical QPR roll over and have their tummy tickled.

No Dykes, Thomas just back in training, Ramkilde gone missing. Oteh to score a perfect hat-trick?

BOS breaks, tries to play in Shodipo for a 1-on-1 but overhits the pass.

For me it’s the management. A blind man can see that defensively we’ve been a shambles for 18 month’s. it’s no different today -something is wrong on the coaching/management side. It’s laughable.

Also agree with that.

Why not use the game to play for a clean sheet. Try to get some organisation.

Not sure what the point of Luke Amos is.

Peak Amos getting dispossessed when the ball needed to go forward 3-2 down with ten seconds to go.

Eight efforts on target and still lose, you know you've got problems. Another season with 70 goals conceded looms.

removing the rose-tinted glasses. That was terrible and highlighted the reasons we've been so poor after the restart. We are in serious trouble unless we sort out the defence quickly. We look a poor team with glimpses of brilliance but I just cannot see how we're gonna score the same amount of goals that we scored last season.

Another year, another cup exit. Warburton, please, please, please, please sort the f*cking defence out.

Not a good start.

Kakay & Carroll ok but not much else.

Really poor defending again and not just through the back four.

Hopefully a response nest week.

Dykes back as well who will be a better focal point.

Smells like a trout farm in here

It’s hard to see Warburton ever tightening this up and no Eze to bail him out either.

Usual defensive lapses and individual mistakes. Normal service resumed.
Positives Carroll decent debut, but it looks like we are going to have to score goals as we cant defend. Need another striker and quickly.

Very disppointing.
Occasional brief minutes of quite good play, mainly with BOS, but overall, no presence up front, too easy to play through, too easily caught on the break, not strong enough, gave the ball away too much, missed too many chances, too susceptible to straight balls through the middle.
Thought Carroll was ok. Better than Amos.
No one gets more than a 6.

Bare bones.

This team has serious problems defending as a unit. Obviously not resolved and a big concern looking ahead to next week. The problem seemingly never gets solved!

Never knowingly right.

Until they scored their third I thought we’d nick that. Played well in bursts but made a number of mistakes going backwards and forwards come to that. Not awful, chin up.

Warburton had no interest in winning that game, with the last two subs he killed the game off.

This was a pre season friendly in all but name .

No Dykes , Thomas or Barbet , Dickie on debut .

Kakay is improving going forward 3-5-2 is the way to go IMO

No need to panic ......

Always depresses me when we lose, doesn't matter if it is a pre-season, Carboot cup or Play Off Final, just a rank feeling.

Have to be pragmatic about today and realise that there is zero incentive to be in that Cup.

As has been mentioned, conceding goals is a real concern. Barbet will imporve the defence but both full back postions are a bit of a masking tape fix up. Manning is a decent footballer but no defender, Wallace looks spent, Kakay is our best option at FB however needs to keep developing to cement his postion and Kane has been a complete horror show.

Buckle in for a long hard season, if that`s our defence plus barbet.
