Boro 17:37 - Jul 4 with 20806 viewsbosh67

Although we haven't won there since the last plague we kind of absolutely need to win there tomorrow to put to bed any fears of being dragged into the relegation problems. Win and we should be fine. Lose there and it really does start to get itchy. Plus we would have to honour of them I think being the only team after lockdown not to gain any points. I wouldn't put it another defeat beyond us but a win tomorrow will at least take the stress out the team and us fans.

Never knowingly right.

Joe Lumley made huge impact first twenty minutes with those blocks at the near post, makes so much difference when the keeper attacks the ball at set pieces, technically gives you a spare man in the six yard box.

Well done Kakay another strong performance, its nice to see a footballing centre back put his foot through the ball when required when under pressure, could be MOTM?

Him or Lumley

Lumley, Kakay, Barbet & Manning were very good, with Kane Ball & Amos backing them up. BOS also worked hard up front & Oteh helped him to keep going to the end.

Cameron was his usual mixture of winning some good ball combined with giving the ball & fouls away needlessly.

I did shout out in appreciation when Joe Lumley came & claimed that ball near the end! Well done Joe.

I saw a little of the Hull Middlesbough game on thursday & 'boro were a lot better today than either of those teams in that game!

So what was the formation, back 4 with Kakay at CB or a back 3?

Can`t see Warnock working his magic with that lot.

Forgot i had a haircut appointment at 4pm, so went at 3.40 and missed the second half.

However i have a nice 'lucky' haircut, and am chuffed for the lads and everyone who went up ther..........oh, hold on!

Anyway, good news is we are very close to being totally safe, so hats off to the boys for a job well done after the last 3 matches. Phew!

Roll on wigwam now!

Three at the back like we played against Fulham.

Seems to give Manning more licence to get in to the opponent's half either staying wide or occasionally coming in side.

Today was one of those days where you can only play what is in front of you and Boro were woeful for large parts of the game. They allowed us to pass it around and gave us large amounts of possession albeit we did not punish them as much as we should have done.

Good 3 points and a clean sheet, hopefully calm things down a bit on here for a few days after the first 3 defeats

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

Thought Ball had a shocker again myself. He and Amos massively weak links, yet Karl and LBlock singled him out for praise; game of opinions I guess...

Kakay awesome; good come back game from Lumley although there two dodgy moments - one come for a claim that he failed to get to and one dodgy kick down the middle, but I feel so much more confident when Joe is there; sorry, can't see how Kelly is better.

Kane did alright for a change and Cameron was awesome at the back.

Boro were really bad though. I didn't see us scoring after Hugill went off, but no way were they going to score.

Can we go out yet?

Does this mean I can't just walk in to the barber tomorrow and get my bird nest cut, that I have to pre book?

Defensively I think everyone did well and fought hard for possession, often after giving it away it has to be said.
Offensively we weren't quite so good and that's where Ball and Amos are too negative unfortunately, I prefer Ball to Amos and we need a driving box to box player in alongside him I think and that would be the link Eze and BOS would thrive on. Thought possession from Ball and Amos is too slow and comes at flat angles rather than direct through the lines often enough.
Boro weren't great but our defensive urgency helped and didn't allow them space, overall a welcome performance albeit room for improvement and it should come now I'm hoping

So joint last as things stand. This must mean then that both clubs have lost every single league game they have played in June. Another bad statistic to add to our unwanted records in our history.

As they are the ONLY league games we have ever played in June - its not much of a statistic really is it?

We have photocopied"BARBER" signs stuck on lamposts and GPO boxes all over our part of town. They are all wonky, which doesn't bode well. Also offered are beard trims and skin fades. No appointment necessary.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Enjoy reading the match thread knowing we have won!

Not much to add and only difference of opinions/not been mentioned are

a) Probably just me, OK SURE its just me - but I do think Manning overrated. Defensively he seems to be going backwards and (like most players at this level) one good pass is matched by 3 giveaways

b) Never a Boro pen but didn't think it was worth a yellow either - it CAN just be 'no foul' play on you know!

c) All this talk about Boro going down and us (before the result) ignores the Wigan points deduction - they are effectively on only 38

Agree with Clive with the 8 for the ref - not much to ref though and Kakay MOTM.

Blimey O’reillu. First game I haven’t watched and we are ahead.

I should go out drinking more often.

Wouldn't have thought that was actually possible, but on Sunday's evidence it is your patriotic duty to try.

Not till the end od the season.

If they finish outside the bottom three it will be this season, if they are relegated regardless it will be next season.

Looks like we needed the first couple of games back to get fitness levels back as have looked the fitter team in the last two matches. Lots of good performances today all round with Lumley, Kakay, Manning & Bright most impressive.

I think it's also partly that you expand more energy chasing the game.

First two games we conceded early. Last two we scored first.
