Rovers Return Match Thread 16:07 - Jan 28 with 23558 views | PinnerPaul | Don't think we have a definitive match thread, so here it is. If we can get over the crushing disappoint of not having the opportunity to concede 8 goals to Man City reserves, think we might grind out a 1-1 draw tonight. Wells won't score our goal btw!
Rovers Return Match Thread on 21:56 - Jan 28 with 1714 views | queensparker | Wasn’t a bad game, we looked good in patches, let in some fairly easy goals, a familiar tale. I’ve seen many worse games at Ewood Park than that Compared to where we were this time last season we’re streets ahead. Keep faith with Warbuton it’s a work in progress. A cup run would have been nice though.

The amount of younger players coming through is superb and the fact that we may break even is too. But, being bottom half every season is getting boring

I'm not disagreeing as we are more enjoyable this season, and have more exciting players to work with. But, just for the record last season we were on 39 points after 29. We certainly aren't perfect yet

Remember that cup run would have included Man City and a confidence building 10-0 home defeat.

Rovers Return Match Thread on 22:01 - Jan 28 with 1592 views | actonman | Well I thought far too many of our lot had poor games today , so fking frustrating not getting the basics right. Having said that and looking at the stats for the away team it really boils down to 2 pss poor goals with awful defending ..... AGAIN !!!
Rovers Return Match Thread on 22:06 - Jan 28 with 1539 views | VancouverHoop | There's probably nothing to play for except pride and personal stats now, I do think Eze needs a game or three's rest. It wouldn't hurt to bring back Oteh and Smyth to reintegrate them into the squad too. If necessary they can be loaned out again next season. Also give some of the other youngsters a few minutes now and again. Why not?

Except for the first ten minutes it was a very even match. We lost the game then.

One point less with a team cobbled together, next you will be expecting play off if not promotion. Sheesh what next, run away leaders next season?

Because we are 14 points from safety Because we are getting bullied out of games as it is Because, despite buying into our new philosophy and needed approach to ensure the financial oblivion Bungle set us on a course to, I still want my team competing and winning Because we need to establish some sort of defensive unit The last 80 minutes f that game were fairly even for the same reason the 2nd half at Gimpin Park was better for us -- Blackburn had the game won, they managed us out of it just as Bentford did, and they did it pretty easy. This following on the heels of last Friday is so predictable and still so frustrating.

like I said I'm not disagreeing. I like this team. But to say we are far better off than last season is an exaggeration. We still have an awful defence and no striker that we actually own. Can we not criticise the team at all now after a loss?

Fair comment but don’t criticise the team or the management, criticise the money men. We are still paying for our mistakes and have to work with what we’ve got. Followed the club for over 50 years and never known such stupid money that is being thrown around. I would rather see footballers who stick with a club, forget this tulip kissing the badge rubbish, loyalty is out of the Iwindow and players now follow the Queens shilling (or 5p to those decimalised of our supporters). .

While he also deserves some credit for it, I doubt in his wildest dreams he expected Chair and BOS to have had the seasons they have which is probably the difference between where we are and Wigan.

he deserves a lot of credit for it. He's improving players at QPR. It's rather innovative. BUT ........these defensive frailties. We seem to have been vulnerable at the back post from corners for years. [Post edited 28 Jan 2020 22:32]

Sadly we've conceded 53 goals so far in the league, that is virtually almost criminal so I'm a wee bit more concerned now that we've lost N, Wells. IMO it is paramount that we sort out our defense first, its almost a given that we're gonna concede at least one goal per game.

To be fair if you'd have said after the summer transfer business that we'd be in the same place as last year I think most would have taken that...

Looks like Cameron may have been on him and blocked off and then a poor leap from Manning. We have got to be more physical at set pieces. |
I'm willing to let Manning off that one, he's on the Bench.

Nobody is slagging off MW for his general work Bosh, he made a mistake wirh team selection/priority against Weds and that's all anyone has said really. I honestly ask you why Wells was on the bench, especially with what's happened now, Clarke started ahead of BOS and Lumley instead of Kelly? Our strongest team v City reserves wouldn't be 10-0, we'd probably be pleasantly surprised. It's not an isolated MW fault as it is the malaise of English football the eroding of the cups. If it's to enable a team to consolidate 10th to 14th in the league it's laughable really as that's all those clubs have to play for is the cups!

I think we got ahead of ourselves and dreamt of playoffs - now mid table would be an achievement - and no relegation battle... I also think we should try manning back in centre midfield

Have to agree with this post .Just the chance to play the reserves of City (still world class talent )would fill LR and give the faithful a great night .It truly seems like a wasted chance Friday night... MW gave an interview before the cup tie and went on and on about how much he loves the history of the FA cup and wanted to advance badly. Then he said we did not deilver on the field so which is it .Either way 2 butt ugly games in 5 days

If they beat us 10-0, they beat us 10-0, at least let us find out. That's what life and football is about. Having a go, trying your best and always striving to be better. Where did we lose that as a club?
