"but nationalisation would not be permitted under EU law)"

ROFLMFAO which EU law is that then?

They are bringing in a law for 2023 called the fourth rail package which stipulates that a proportion of public rail must be sold out to private firms. The EU isn’t The cuddly snowflakey left wing institution that most remainers paint it out to be. For proof of this look to Greece.

The EU is a throughly corrupt club. We may or may not be better out of it.

However, if the alternative is subjugation to the Neo-Nazi United States of America (what's the betting Trump tries to stand for a third term) via the collusion of the New York born sock-puppet Johnson...

Which makes the fact that he has sold all the labour working class constituencies that voted for Brexit out in favour of the Islington set all the more galling.

Have you been to the states lately? Most diverse country on earth. Hardly anybodies idea of a Nazi dystopia. The presidency was more of a dictatorship under Bush and Obama invading and destabilising most of the countries in the Middle East.

Probably nothing, but I doubt we'd see the huge difference in the haves and have nots that we have now, or more people living below the poverty level than ever before. I didnt notice things like food banks before 2009, or are they a figment of my imagination?

Arriva is a German company runs some of the trains in the U.K. I’m quite sure another foreign company is involved with northern rail. I should have been more specific.

Yeah they run the franchise which run services on network rails infrastructure. It all got brought in house following the demise of railtrack..

The trains are run by private companies who lease the rolling stock. It’s a shite arrangement and needs ending

Aye the trains, that isn’t infrastructure. Railway infrastructure is earthworks, signals, track, bridges, buildings, etc.

All of which the likes of northern, transpennine, etc. Pay our government for the right to use..

They do pay for the franchise yes, but receive a huge amount more back in way of subsidy. More than BR was ever subsidised.

It may come as a bit of a shock to you but democracy didn’t begin and end on 23 June 2016. Other acts of democracy have taken place since then, in particular the 2017 General Election, which has meant the Withdrawal Agreement or no deal (thankfully) has been unable to be democratically passed in the democratically elected Parliament of this country.

What you say may be so but never the less the country voted to leave and that should stand no matter what , that is democracy, is it not?

We’re a working class town, labour represent the working class, what else did you expect?

Our MP does not support leaving the EU yet 60% of his constituents voted to leave , is that representation.

From a public point of view yes. From a business, safety and reliability point of view, absolutely not. BR was a failing organisation.
