Fake news headlines 01:28 - Sep 6 with 4177 views | timcocking | FLW DEBATE: 60% OF THESE QPR FANS ISSUE NEGATIVE VERDICT AFTER CONFIRMED NEW PLAYER AGREEMENT We all know they are ridiculous, but Christ it's getting worse by the day. This "60% negative reaction" was to Aramide Oteh signing a new contract with us. Can't imagine there would be a single QPR fan who would begrudge him that? The actual question was "do you think he will have a flourishing career at QPR?". Well bloody hell, i imagine we'd all answer very unlikely to that! There were only 78 votes, half of them were probably Brentford fans. I'd say if 40% of the votes are saying he will have a flourishing career at Rangers, that's an incredibly positive vote if anything. So pointless headline, pointless article, totally misleading. Utter bollox. Are these people supposed to be journalists, or are they teenage kids mucking about or something? Ps Waiting for the first genius to reply "well, why bother reading it then?". Yeah, brilliant.

Fake news headlines on 01:37 - Sep 7 by timcocking | Blimey, got to defend Clive here. Feels like you're taking him very much for granted there. His site is absolutely priceless. Nobody forced to come here?!! The first thing i do every day is check to see if there is an article from Clive. Never cost me a penny and it is pretty much the highlight of every QPR game, he's the best thing QPR have by a mile. His articles are, quite literally, the best in Britain. Irreplaceable. We're privileged to have him. To think the QPR website tries to squeeze money for everything, this site is worth a gigantic fee. The hours he must spend on it. He should be writing for Have I Got News For You. If there is anything on there that generates some tiny recompense for all his phenomenal efforts on our behalf, i wouldn't come close to begrudging him. People can be so ungrateful at times. I'm trying to think of anything in life that causes me as much pleasure as Clive and doesn't cost me a penny ever and i'm struggling. If he stopped this site, it would be a catastrophe. I was honestly in bed last night hoping Clive outlives me, because the day anything happened to this site would be a dark day indeed. So i'm really not sure where the hypocrisy is coming from and to moan about Clive perhaps recovering a tiny portion of what goes into this (time is money) is just unfathomable to me. If i was a billionaire, i'd pay him heavily just to continue. I only wish to Christ we could make him prime minister. Better yet, president. |
Agreed. I don’t particularly like the advertising but it is a small price to pay for the only journalism on our club that’s worth reading. The articles are always excellent and well thought through. Personally I’d be up for a subscription model for the site but I suspect that that would reduce the readership hugely.

In general I think the advertising on the site is not to intrusive and because the main adverts are what are called display and remarketing they are generally appropriate, they are not clickbait. the in thread adverts are lower quality and some of them are of course clickbait style but I never read them so they dont register with or effect me Advertising is what funds the fansnetwork service, if you want this site to continue and support clives efforts visit the appropriate advertisers occasionally and ignore the clickbait ones unless interested. It does make me laugh sometimes that some people have a concept that the internet is somehow free and everyone has the right to all the information in the world all the time at the fastest possible speeds. its not the case people, every single byte of information and the display of every image, the action of every click, everytime you post or create a thread or reply or watch a video has a cost associated and that cost has to be paid by someone, in all most all cases, that cost is spread across multiple entities. Yes clickbait is crappy but if you have worked that out dont click on it, click on the better stuff occasionally and chip in to keep a great resource going
Fake news headlines on 10:15 - Sep 7 with 1126 views | Dorse | If the adverts help run the site, that seems like fair-dos to me. It's hardly like Clive is involved in product placements for things like new Pantene Apple-Ponce Creme Rinse that left my remaining hair lustrous and shiny so that my natural beauty shines through. Fake news headlines on 13:12 - Sep 7 with 1080 views | DannyPaddox | I get it that adverts help run the site but once product placement gets a hold it could ruin the whole Loft For Words experience. Which would be a great shame because there's few things I enjoy more than getting in from work and reading the latest LFW posts while having a cool refreshing glass of Liptons Ice Tea. Now available in regular and new mango flavour.

Fake news headlines on 03:26 - Sep 8 with 941 views | timcocking | What adverts are people even talking about? I actually don't have and have never had any ads or anything on my lfw page? Or if i have, it's so small and unobtrusive, i don't even know what you guys are talking about. Not something i'd be moaning at Clive for in a hurry. We all should understand it is in our very best interests to let Clive know exactly how much we value him and appreciate his site and his efforts on our behalf, which are immensely valued and appreciated, at least by me. I wouldn't take kindly to people coming on moaning if it was me putting in all this time, effort and money for us.
Fake news headlines on 05:37 - Sep 8 with 937 views | JAPRANGERS | This site is the best there is. Football wise or anything else. Living as I do thousands of miles away from HQ, I am so grateful for all of Clive's efforts with his excellent articles, news stories and just the time he gives up for travelling to matches and reporting on them. Hope this site never ends. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Great razors though. Think it's the only thing I've ever bought from an ad on here, apart from train tickets, and it's lovely. (no I don't get commission) Thanks for the other kind comments guys, no need but thanks anyway.
Fake news headlines on 01:41 - Sep 11 with 753 views | timcocking | So, going back to journalistic issues, i've been watching recently a few American sports programs before the new NFL season starts. I've noticed a huge difference. When one watches Match of the Day or whatever, the panelists disect the match respectfully and quietly. Nobody is insulting anybody else. But i've been watching three different American football shows, just to see if they're always so irritating. Each has an attractive woman anchor who says nothing really, and two pundits. 100% that one pundit will be a white man, usually a smartly dressed, skinny sort of real middle/upper class white guy; the other one will always be a black man. No asians. Every single time. Each supports the exact opposite view on every single player/issue; they must literally be ordered to in their contracts. Everything is the best or the worst. Each talks over the other, disrespects or disregards the other's opinion every time. The white guys are blatantly patronising, always a very well-groomed and smarmy looking fcuker, usually waffling on about there own lives more than anything else. The black guys are normally portrayed as a sort of drunk Ian Wright. They are both spouting the same pointless arguments daily, just as long as they can shout back and forth across the table at each other. It's literally a fake drama show. It's kind of: "you said that last time and it was as stupid then as it is now, he's the worst player ever in history, you really don't know anything at all and you're always wrong about everything..." "Lol he's the best player in history, you're just too stupid to understand how football works and i can't remember the last time you were ever right..." All the while in hysterical raised voices. It's the same format every show, every episode. They've basically turned sports reporting into some kind of fcuked up black against white pub argument soap opera. It's like reading this forum late after a defeat on a saturday night. But, of course, we're not being paid to present sports programs on tv. The lack of manners, there is so much wrong with it. I've got my mouth open in disbelief half of the time. No wonder that country comes up with a president straight from a Viz comic. I find it all a concern. [Post edited 11 Sep 2018 4:20]

Fake news headlines on 07:08 - Sep 11 with 737 views | nix | No offence Tim, as my kids say when they’re prefacing something mildly offensive, but I don’t usually agree with anything you say. But on this occasion I agree with every word. Isn’t there a point where people will wear themselves out being outraged by some of the garbage produced by ‘news’ outlets (which they find themselves having to click on anyway)? I’ve stopped reading even mainstream newspapers because a lot of them are paddling in the clickbait shallow end. This site, crafted almost entirely by Clive but with the occasional guest contributor, (but not all the punters obvs!) is a haven of balance, humour, wit and intelligence. We’ve even got some of our own writers, apart from Clive, who write with charm and verve - eg, Antii, Konk, Simms, even Discodroids if he can lay off the female parts, which I’d rather read than a lot of the mainstream press. It would be a very dark day indeed if Clive ever packed away his quill and ink.
