If anyone's interested - 1st home game of the season and not started yet - hmmmmmm?

Anyway, Mrs PP coming today and she didn't see us lose last season, so here's to keeping up her fine record.

1-1 for me -Sylla to start and score

Sounds to me like the common theme between today and last week has to a certain extent been lack of that magic ingredient nous.

Think we deserved a draw out of that.

Offish commentators saying that their peno shouldn't have been given. FDC, you said the same, didn't you?

Hope we were taking notes on how to close out a game ugly style.

Is it same old problem, in that we don't look like scoring enough and we always look like we can concede?

I wasn't convinced that was a penalty.

Yes, I think so too.

We were the better team in that first half, but United edged a poor second half.

We had 15 shots to their 8, even if quite a few of them were from long range.

I can't work out the tactics. We rarely seem to have options with the ball going forward and very few players breaking into the penalty area. All looked very easy for Sheff Utd second half.

cant agree mate,no such thing.

We get what we deserve. it's about not conceding and scoring. it really is that simple.
not how hard we play, how we string passes together.

if we dont do either then we deserve what we get.

Sorry, we didn't deserve anything out of that game after the 2nd half performance. Freeman, Scowen, and Luongo all went into hiding. We need them to step up or we are bang in trouble

Absolute shithousery cheating from the Blades, which the ref was complicit in allowing. Completely lost control. Utd reffed the game second half. Soft as sh*t pen too.

Eze and Leistner vs from our side.

I think it was a penalty tbh, little soft but definitely backed in under McGoldrick.

Thought we lacked a focal point up front and I don't think Smith is the answer either, however we were in a deserved lead and lost all 3 points which is disappointing and did show a weakness which a few commented could happen when the team was announced, nice enterprising play but defensively suspect and we'll obviously come up against better opposition too.

Total rubbish penalty, we weren't that good, but didn't deserve to lose by that

If that's not the weakest refereeing display I've ever seen, well, absolute joke of a man, actually that's an insult to mankind.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

I thought Scowen had a good second half, Freeman did ok but could have demanded the ball more, Luongo was very quiet all through the game but, as you say, particularly in the second half.

Thought it was a crap penalty call.

That said, those last 15-20 minutes were unbearable. No sense of urgency, nobody makin runs, passes from side to side.

We’re in trouble.

Yes midfield has to share blame for defensive weakness, was commented that removing Smyth, if tactical, would be a risk defensively. Can't say it had a direct impact but losing general defensive stability in one area does affect across the team.
Think MacClaren has to be a bit more pragmatic at the start of this season and then try and bring some flair into things later, just don't think squad is strong enough for his normal approach, albeit its a style I would prefer to watch

We've only got 44 games left to save our season.
