Do people think this is a true story or have The Times made it up?

I was thinking more of the BUF.

You're not going to tell me they weren't fascists are you?

When BU was founded, Hump, it was mostly comprised of the young active members of the ILP who followed Mosley out of the party as he departed. Its founding programme could easily be described as ‘radical socialist.’ It followed a trajectory from 1932 to 1940 that saw it move to the right and come back to where it had started with a radical reiteration before it was closed down.

It had anti-semites within its ranks, as you know, but it is fair to point out that the worst offenders had been expelled by the end of ‘37. Mosley himself was derided as ‘kosher’ by Britain’s extreme anti-Semitic fringe. He said things he would come to regret, he made tactical errors aplenty, and I’m not about to down-play them, but for all that he was one of the few on these islands who didn’t shrink and run from the scale of the economic depression. Posterity will surely grant him that.

BU also had people like Sir Malcolm Campbell, the captains of both the English cricket and rugby teams, half a dozen boxing champions and a future Lord Chief Justice among its support. There was far more to it than the gang of corner boys it is painted as today.

This is the exposition I found the most interesting. Drennan, by the way, is the pen-name of Bill Allen, MI6 Head of Station for Ankara in WWII. It’s horribly expensive to buy now but easy enough to borrow through your local library.

I'm sorry, I was being mischievous rather than really asking the question.

Just been slightly amused at the sight of a fascist railing against the evils of anti-semitism whilst pointing the finger at Marxists and Muslims.

Sorry? I thought mischief was the reason any of us congregate here.

I'm sorry because you went to the effort of providing me with an answer.

I feel all guilty now.

I enjoyed typing it out, mun. I carry the weight of the political history of the twentieth century around in my head all day, every day. If it wasn’t for this place and the chance to let a bit out at a time my head would explode.

When normal people are wondering what they will have for tea, I’m sat there thinking about the Treaty of Rapallo or the Dawes Plan. I can’t switch it off, ever.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

“ A genuine man of principle.”

He’s spent the last fifty years hovering around the fringes of a lynch mob.

He has just called our government out for lying to their people and placing us under threat of retaliation from Russia. If the government had done what he suggested over the despatch box we wouldn't have persuaded half the world to kick out Russian diplomats on bogus assurances.

I'd say he was a man if principle, yes. Your judgement is flawed.

Corbyn would say anything to support his Russian friends. He is not fit to be leader of the Labour party let alone the UK.

Corbyn has supported the Government on both Russia and Brexit. Something I don't agree with but one politician or Party does not fit all views.
After yet another shambolic performance by our hopeless Foreign Sectretary he is absolutely right to call for clarity.
Johnsons response was again typical Tory personal attacks and no substance. Just like your response above.

Corbyn has been judged on his actions not his words.

We will pay for all student fees to get us elected. Once he realised the actual cost he said he did not says that.

He supported the anti-semitic poster in the cause of free speech. Then he said he did not really look at it.
