Southampton have not scored in 8 of their last home games yet Charlie Austin never gets a start. How the hell they think Long is a better forward than him I really do not know. Charlie always struck me as being a journeyman player someone who was grateful for the opportunity to play football at a high level. What a complete waste that the hardly plays nowadays when his career is not exactly at the start. Mind you one hundred large a week probably helps. Sad in my opinion.
Not a weekly topic and nowhere did I mention about him returning to our club. I was just watching the Southampton match and could not understand how the fcuk Shane (never scores) Long could get to play in front of Austin given Southampton had not scored in 8 of their last 9 home games. Just said it was a waste - which it is - anyway moving on!!

Ok mate. Only jesting. I have seen the topic on other forums as well and some idiots have been tweeting Tony telling him to get Charlie back (just the small matter of the £100k per week wages then!)

Sorry CFW but I seem to be having a deja vu moment. Could have sworn I read a very similar thread on here last week.
If you read my op it was NOT about him coming back here - just why when Soton and other PREMIER LEAGUE clubs need a goalscorer why he hasn't had a chance either where he is or elsewhere.

All I was highlighting was that I thought we had already done this recently and that nothing had changed in the meantime.

Makes us an automatic contender. Charlie was their high scorer last season, even though he got hurt in December. Current coach prefers "pace" guys over natural scorers, which explains their lack of goals if you ask me.
