Draws are next to useless 17:27 - Sep 30 with 41024 views | borntogo | Just to point out, to anyone going hoopla about all these 'battling', 'well-earned' nil-nil draws - they're as good as useless. Basically, if a team draws every game through a season, they will be relegated. Sure, they're better than losing but a couple of slutchy 1-0 wins equates to six battling, well-earned bore-outs. It's a concern that Hill is currently packing his subs' bench with our most attacking players (and arguably our best in Done, Davies, Slew, Andrew etc), as if he's actively seeking draws. Rochdale, since time began, has always been a side that plays better off the front foot, going for it rather than consolidating etc. We'll probably revert to type eventually but will lose a lot of points in the meantime.

Draws are next to useless on 23:19 - Oct 1 by D_Alien | I don't need to remind you, surely, of riddler's posting history, which features such wonderfully polite exhortions as "Taxi for Hill" He certainly doesn't need provoking But then again, it takes just a little bit more effort to remember such things than your attempt to defend him demonstrates. He's made his bed on here, and he can lie in it, as we all do, gullible conspiracy theories or not |
I retracted the taxi for hill, and I haven't said anything similar since

TTNYear I would say the old hard midget gems. But back to the debate, I was happy with the draws against Southend and Blackpool, because on paper and based on form they were tough games, but I though if we had gone for it at Wimbledon we could have got a win, because they are not a good side and have only scored five goals all season. I can understand that keeping it tight defensively in away games is crucial, but sometimes it can counter productive and at Wimbledon this was the case. if KH had taken a chance and he could have done this by playing the more creative forward players like Matty Done or Steve Davies, he could have kept the same defence and midfield that is preferred option in away games, although it is clear that Daniels at times appears very uncomfortable at full back. Although a point at Wimbledon is better then now't and in previous years would have been a good point, but on Saturday they looked poor. I trust KH and I hope he picks the best team to win games and not just a team to keep a tight defence. We have some hard home games coming up, i.e Rotherham for example and these teams have the players to open our defence and beat us with ease, if we just opt for a defensive approach to games without the ability to respond with by threatening the opposition goal by creating chances and on Saturday we did not create any serious chances.

I was always a drop man myself. Pear drops and sarsaparilla drops took a lot of beating. Had we continued to play like we were at the start of the season and gone on a longer poor run than we did last season, i.e. shipping goals and scoring less than we needed, this board would have been in meltdown from some quarters. We've shown we can defend. We've stopped the rot. We've also shown we can attack and score goals. It's just a case of getting that balance right now. It will come.

As D Alian would put it "you know f*ck all about sweets"... how about the much maligned dabs as in your Sherbet dab not to mention the humble lozenge, a fishermans friend on a winters day was a treat. That's the problem with kids today they want everything to taste nice. [Post edited 2 Oct 2017 18:40]

Draws are next to useless on 19:00 - Oct 2 by DaleiLama | Sherbert dab was always a bit wussy for my liking, although the liqourice probably just about kept your man card intact (if you'd mentioned rainbow kali it would have been revoked forever!!!) And without wishing to split hairs, are FFs even sweets or do they come under "medicines"? Having said that, I do go for them big style and find that taste in many of the peaty drams I prefer too. Good call! |
what you don't like Kali? or sherbet dabs. In that case you probably had no time for your classic flying saucers? they were ace apart from the bit that stuck to the top of your mouth of course.

An interesting question Lama about fisherman friends, sweet or medicine? Ive pondered this for some time and here's my take on it, you go to the chemist for medicine and to the confectioners for sweets and lollies. Im glad we got that one cleared up.

Kali wasn't exactly top 10 material for me. Sure, like most kids I wanted to rot my teeth with the stuff, but my interest ended there. Flying saucers were just a way to recycle stale communion wafers by the confectionary industry. I still have a piece stuck to the roof of my mouth today from when I was a kid, and I'm closer to 60 than 50. They were undoubtedly the forerunner for many wallpaper paste recipes.

You missed the third option from the list for a kid. Chemists, newsagents and strangers. Good to know that you followed "momma's advice" in not hurrying love or taking sweets from the latter.

That reminds me of the underrated Love hearts sure they were chalky tasteless shite but they were cheap enough at tuppence also the only way to chat up the lass you fancied at school. I used to give all my pink "love me" ones to nancy malone all the green "kiss me" ones to mary conroy the yellow "be mine" to ruth jones and orange "Im yours" ones to random girls in the off chance they fancied you. unrequited love in action non of em gave me a second glance.
