Hopes for the new season... 16:24 - Jul 26 with 9528 views | traininvain | Not expecting much but I'll get the ball rolling. I'd happily take mid table mediocrity with the emergence of a maverick player who gets the fans off their seats. Maybe the latter part is asking too much but having a Wegerle or Taarabt makes going to games much more enjoyable even when we're drawing or losing to an extent.

i'm not sure that Matt Smith is built for 'running the channels', but there you go...

Hopes for the new season... on 14:27 - Jul 27 with 1704 views | enfieldargh | always up beat before season starts. We had really bad squads over the years this is not one of them. Good set of keepers Central defence could be adequate with further additions Full backs. Key area for me. Left side Bidwell/Robinson. Should be strong enough. Right side is Furlong and Perch, both can be good enough but have to be able to keep getting up and down the pitch . One of the best fullbacks I saw last season was Malone at Fulham. Wish they could perform like him. Midfield. There are enough skillful players in our mid. Wide areas Pav I hope will be vital to our play on the right . Up top who knows. If the players play as a team, manage to pass to one another consistently and create chances in oppo box then we could see a nice team start to grow. Consistency, mental application, commitment and pride. There's no reason we cant perform like Preston or Barnsley , yes maybe our level but last season both those clubs performed a lot better than we did over the season.

Hopes for the new season... on 22:22 - Jul 26 by LongsufferingR | 1) That we can make it past October without sacking the manager 2) Consecutive cup wins (don't laugh) 3) Washington, Yeni, Wszolek, Robinson and Luongo to show the form I firmly believe they are capable of and lift us into the top ten None of those should be beyond us. |
I agree with this, yet its difficult when Washington keeps being moved to the wing, Pavel to the bench, and in general different lineup every game. If only we played people in their correct positions, and kept a settled team weak in week out, we would probably do ok. Why don't we ever keep it simple?

Can we actually come up with even a hypothetical starting XI that features Washington, Yeni, Wszolek and Luongo, that plays to all of their strengths? It's a puzzle for anyone, let alone someone as unstable as Ollie. That's the problem.
Hopes for the new season... on 16:36 - Jul 27 with 1600 views | Hooped_Pullie | Looking at the squad numbers, you know it's not a bad lot, reminds you the potential is there...one to two centre-halves, maybe a striker who really knows where the net is, should be top ten really if we can get those in (and we have been told we're trying for three or four). I have a feeling we might just see something decent at LR this term : Manning might really come on, and he has the potential to be special. Washington might rediscover his touch too. I find it hard to be pessimistic, to be honest. Let's hope it stays that way...

Hopes for the new season... on 17:50 - Jul 27 with 1534 views | derbyhoop | Finding 3 sides worse than us, preferably more. Milwall, Bolton, Barnsley may fill the first criterium. Birmingham, Burton and Preston for the others.

I think Petrasso will be in the mix at RB. He showed enough at the Gold Cup to be given a long look. He's got to be better than Perch.

Fair enough, it does seem like a waste when you put it like that. Lets just stick with the elephants then.
