That kind of sums it up. He would have been slow and sluggish if we'd expected him to keep up with the pace of the game when he was here.
Use him as a pivot, play balls to his feet and chest to hold up, play people through or then and get a shot away. He was never the type you'd want chasing back or running onto through balls.
Do agree he's worth nowhere near £20m though. He didn't go for too much more than that when he was one of the top scorers in the league. With the wages he is likely to be on, I'd say they would need to set a low price to move him on. |  | |  |

I'd have Bony back for £8m in a heartbeat.
The deal makes a lot of sense, he fits us well, he was happy here, Man City owe us money...and most importantly, he was always top class.
I don't buy this sh*t that he isn't the same player or that he failed at City.
They did not give him a fair crack.
He has been training with some of the best players in the world day in and day out...and has always looked the part for the Ivory Coast.
Give him a couple of months and he will click here again.
This deal also makes sense in terms of squad shape.
We would then have 2 excellent target men in Llorente & Bony with Abraham able to play as an inside forward or up front if we need to change style.
We would start to have attacking options again.
If we sell Siggy and get 2/3 players for the 2nd line we will start to look very dangerous again.
Imagine. Pick 4 from;
Llorente, Bony, Abraham, Ayew...Siggy Replacement...New exciting Left winger...Narsingh...possibly another winger/attacking midfielder.
and they will be playing in front of;

I'd like to see us being proactive rather than reactive with the striker situation.
It seems we'll have to wait until Siggy situation resolves to sort out attacking mids and wide players, but for me, we can't risk playing that game twice with Llorente too. Get Bony in first and then we're far better off if Llorente wants to go. [Post edited 20 Jul 2017 7:32]

People keep using this formation as their preferred but PC only used it when chasing a game. The 4-4-2 diamond and the 4-3-3 were used considerably more and i think it will continue that way | | | |

LLorente had a very good season last year, Bony was rubbish last year and pretty much didn't kick a ball the season before.

People also keep using the term "squad shape."
The only shape some of them had was round.
Less than £8 to £10 million and it may be worth a gamble- Will was very wasteful in front of goal when he was here remember. But a terrific defender.
£11 to £20 million and it's still a no from me.
We should be looking for younger and better. They are out there. |  |
