its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 21:58 - Jan 12 by DeepcutHoop | Good point about Furlong, settled in seamlessly. Perch will struggle to get back in if he keeps that up. |
Love the way Furlong didn't commit himself by throwing himself into challenges (the way Perch often does) and kept it simple. Also closed down Obita well preventing him from slinging too many balls into the box. Solid 7.5/10, 2nd MoM to Pawel.
its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 22:03 - Jan 12 with 1953 views | Toast_R | Away performance of the season I reckon. Reading are 3rd and we took them to the cleaners on their own pitch. Well deserved, well worked and very well executed. I like it. Young home grown players holding their own and getting the best out of our signings. Amazing how fortunes in football can turn around so quick. An Ollie super 7 from 7 coming up again?

its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 21:59 - Jan 12 by kropotkin41 | Well, any new believers after that? I don't recall seeing a performance with as much conviction, organisation and guts since 2011 or so.......... am I being unfair to the intervening years? |
Fair play to Ollie, couple of more poor results and he was likely out too but he stuck to his belief there were players not trying hard enough and it looks like he was right. Good fortune that Mackie came back with his infectious enthusiasm but you've got to make use of it and thats what they have done. Delighted and hope we can build on this!

its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 22:00 - Jan 12 by dannyblue | Just watched on TV but what an excellent performance. Tactics spot on. Loads of nous in hustling one on one from Mackie, Pavel and Luongo. Furlong excellent. Slight criticisms - no spells of posession, but so what. Manning got run on the outside a few times, but what an assist. Pleased with that. Even more pleased my mate, who was there, got the all clear from his cancer today so well done Rangers for helping him celebrate. |
Great news about your friend

its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 22:00 - Jan 12 by danehoop | that was a great performance. Really got stuck in, agree with Polish MOM. Thought Mackie throughout whole game was everywhere. Furlong looked very tidy, Manning did well and lovely touch for the goal, Luongo was very good. Basically very good team performance. Stuck to a plan, Sylla very strong up front (probably wouldn't have taken him off, so brave call by Ollie there). Bidwell and Lynch played well, Hall a touch above everything at the back. Nedum made some great tackles. Dogs of war stuff in keeping pressure all over the pitch and some real quality and pace going forwards. Whisper it, but that was very encouraging against a very strong Reading side in not very nice weather. Very happy. |
Dane - you do realise the only starting player you never mentioned was Smithies, how often can we say that?! He was, as usual, steady influence of course

Hunted the ball down, broke quickly and all worked hard. Wzolek was immense. Protected Furlong and broke quickly. Loved it!

I had a horrible feeling Reading were going to nick a goal but nearest was hitting the bar. There was no way Reading deserved anything. I thought they were terrible yet they are 3rd in the league How ? This must help the confidence of the whole team Onwards and upwards

Wonderful performance. I was worried we were running out of puff at the end, but refused to give in. Mackie even managed to intercept Pav's MoM.

The ratios of shots and shots on target compared to possession are bloody impressive. Really good use of the possession, which after all is what counts.

its my party and ill cry, Reading Match thread. on 18:23 - Jan 11 by Hunterhoop | Victory!! 2-1 Rangers! I called Wolves correct. We're a similar bogey club for Reading at their gaff in recent years. With Holloway likely to play Wszolek AND Lua Lua (2 wingers! Praise the Lord!), and Youth in the side keen to impress, plus a returning Sylla, this points to victory! I hope Readinh defend as badly as they did against Utd. Should have been a cricket score that match. |
Yeah, I noted the Wolves prediction. Lotto numbers for Saturday?

Haha.... No lottery numbers but I'll be providing my tips for the Cheltenham Festival again in a 8 weeks time. Made a 50% profit on my total stakes last year. And yes, I kept a book.
