Didn't think it was an Americanism, in my mind it's a Rugby-Unionism. So I looked it up just now; Collins has it as 'British, Australian, New Zealand' which kinda explains my association of it.
To the poster who doesn't like kinda. That's ok, innit? Used it since very young age, as in 'I like sausage, bacon and egg for Saturday breakfast, that kinda thing' ...
