Match Thread 11:02 - Sep 13 with 26516 views | DubaiR | Started the Wigan away one and not seen one for tonight. No idea on starting line up as no idea who is fit but we need Lynch or Caulker back in to partner Hall tonight IMO. I would line up 4231 as we are a counter attacking side and Newcastle will come at us so actually thinks that may work for us tonight.

I expected a slight improvement from last year -- which would be chasing promotion, I guess.

Match Thread on 20:34 - Sep 13 by Bakes | This is one of the worst I've watched. Every goal kick is basically a pass back to Newcastle, no options up the field, CW is as isolated as you can be. No width. No creativity. All we want to do is pass it across the back 4, Newcastle just letting us do it now because they know after 5-6 passes we will just lump it up to Lescelles, Just way too defensive. I have no doubt this is the easiest game Newcastle will play all season. We parked the bus but left the hand brake off. [Post edited 13 Sep 2016 20:37]

I suspect if we don't get promotion this year then that will pretty much be our last opportunity for the next 5 years given the sizes of budgets teams coming down from the Premiership are going to have.

Match Thread on 20:44 - Sep 13 with 2222 views | BrazilNutR | Interestingly their are only two types of score at half time from all the games in the Championship. If it's not 0-0, then all the other games are 2-0, so we are at least not alone, and at least are losing to the supposed strongest team in the league....
Match Thread on 20:46 - Sep 13 with 2191 views | Discodroids | Looking at the QPR side which ended the first half, I reckon thats nine of the eleven that is JFH'S prefered starting line up. The only tweak i reckon would be Polter (who is injured )for Washington and Borysiuk for Henry. We got the top of our legs slapped first half, id like to see us get in their faces a bit second half and at least go down with our spurs on. I dont think the missing robinson , mackie, gladwin, Lunogo or Sandro would have made any difference in the first half. bit of pride restored in the second half, and no more bleedin' injuries before the trip to Huddersfield would be nice . Match Thread on 20:48 - Sep 13 with 2150 views | RangersDave | The thing is I don't expect or even want promotion. What I expect is that my team will play better match in and match out and attack. Now, there will be those amongst you that insist it's still not Jimmys team, and those that will blame the injury's. I counter by saying ......injuries? Did we not plan ahead for the eventuality of a crucial player or 4 going crook? Where is the back up? Mind you the problem is more, I venture to suggest, deep rooted than that. Formations, lack of fitness to alleged too much training, to lack of insight into tactics, changes of players early enough to make a difference etc. I stand behind Jimmy, but for god sake man, learn and learn quickly. I have already heard the boos around the ground last sat and tonight. Oh and the team comes out for the second half without changes......QED! [Post edited 13 Sep 2016 20:52]

I reckon 0-4. As for promotion and all that, the next time we get promoted it will have to be because of a brilliant squad built by brilliant management. It won't be this season, I doubt it will be next, it might not be for many years. For years to come the relegated teams will go straight back up, I reckon. Here's the best we can hope for: as some have said, Championship stability year in, year out, an occasional cup run, good young players, managers who want to encourage good football when they can.
